Stunning Lake! So quiet and serene. Clouds breeze over the lake. Watching fish jumping. Sunny and cool in Sept. No cell service was a great break. This is my 2nd camping trip to this beautiful little treasure. Bring layers and a fishing pole. Happy Grama!

The campground surrounds about half of the lake, with many sites right on the lake. Most sites are spacious and require minimal leveling. All sites are within easy walking distance to the lake. Now for the negatives. As other reviews state, there is no water available. This seems to be a trend with many NF campgrounds in CO. I've talked to several campground host and they claim that there has been a dispute between the Forest Service and the State of Colorado as to what is acceptable, safe drinking water. The FS has tested the wells at different campgrounds and say the water is up to their standards, while the State says they are not up to theirs. I don't know if any of this is true or not, just repeating what I've heard from some campground host. So, no water at many popular campgrounds. Back to the negatives. The road up can be rough, and has some tight turns for longer trailers, plus some blind corners. This is an extremely popular place, not just for camping, but also for the day use(paddle boards, kayaks, etc.) and fishing. There are three restrooms, one of which in the most central area is a one holer(men or women). So all of the campers, plus all of the day use visitors have to share between the three. They really need to add another one or two bathrooms. Another negative is that despite the signs that say "No ATV's" there is a steady stream of ATV's, UTV's, and motorcycles that drive through the campground all during the day and evening. The hosts seemed to work hard at controlling things, but they are overwhelmed, especially on the weekends. If your are looking for a quiet, relaxing campground, this is not it.

You can also swim here unlike most lakes in Colorado. Camp hosts, Renee and Ron, were awesome. We camped at site 12 at the western end and they routinely checked up on us to ensure our needs were met. They gave us a parking pass to use at other locations in the area and some free night crawler bait for fishing. Clean organized campground with pristine vault toilets. My family and I really enjoyed the experience. We will definitely return in the future. While site #12 seemed remote, we had some folks enter/exit the trail through our site a few times.

This was a wonderful camping experience. We were lucky enough to book site 26 last minute when someone else canceled. It is a shared camp site with 28 but we had enough room between our neighbors for it to feel private enough. We set up chairs and hammocks on the water's edge. Also, we were able to launch our kayaks from our site. Ron was a wonderful camp host with a great sense of humor. Campgrou... This was a wonderful camping experience. Campgrounds and bathrooms were clean and all campers respectful. We spent most of the day on the lake or in the hammocks watching the fish jump. We did a night paddle and the stars were amazing. Hardly any mosquitoes when we used our citronella bracelets.

Beautiful place to relax, camp, picnic, swim (if you like cold water!), paddle board and more. After spending time at the lake we drove Marshall pass and saw mountain goats. Very fun experience.
