About Summit RV Park

Campground in Colorado.

Summit RV Park in Trinidad, Colorado offers RV travelers a genuine mountain gateway experience in one of Colorado's most historically rich regions. Nestled near the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, this park provides an ideal base for exploring a landscape steeped in Old West heritage, outdoor adventure, and natural beauty that spans from high desert to alpine terrain.

Trinidad itself carries fascinating layers of history. Once a major stop on the Santa Fe Trail, this charming town has preserved its cultural heritage through well-maintained historic sites and museums that tell the stories of Native Americans, Spanish settlers, cowboys, and coal miners who shaped the region. Walking through Trinidad's downtown, visitors encounter authentic adobe architecture, local galleries, and family-owned restaurants serving regional cuisine that reflects centuries of cultural influence. The town's welcoming character makes it an easy place to spend an afternoon exploring.

The surrounding landscape offers year-round appeal for different types of travelers. Outdoor enthusiasts find excellent opportunities for hiking, particularly along trails in the nearby Sangre de Cristo Mountains where elevations range from moderate foothills to challenging alpine peaks. Fishermen appreciate access to several nearby streams and reservoirs, while nature photographers consistently find compelling subjects in the dramatic rock formations and changing light across the high plains. In winter, the region's elevation brings snow to some areas while maintaining milder conditions in town, making it a pleasant shoulder-season destination.

The location provides strategic access to multiple attractions within a reasonable driving distance. Scenic byways crisscross the region, offering stunning drives through mountain passes and high desert country. Historic sites related to the Santa Fe Trail, Native American history, and the region's mining past are scattered throughout the area, providing educational opportunities for curious travelers.

Trinidad's elevation and semi-arid climate mean generally comfortable temperatures, though visitors should come prepared for mountain weather variations. The park serves as an excellent stopping point for travelers moving between Denver and points south, or as a destination for those seeking authentic Colorado mountain town culture without the crowds found in more commercialized resort areas.

Great RV park. At the edge of town and very quiet. Sites are big and spacious. A few full timers but plenty of spaces for daily stays. Price is a bit pricey but all the RV parks in town are asking the same price!! Gravel sites with pavement slab for parking and living space. Full hook-ups and Cable. This is by far the best RV park in town.

Avoid this place at all costs! Very sketchy residents. Looks like drug dealers and users. Units parked permanently for years. Hook ups sketchy and no WiFi or cell service or tv reception. One of the nicer units in the attached photos. No pool no amenities. In a time capsule from 1933. Additionally it is very expensive!! If I could give it less than one star I would.

RV park attached to a Rodeway Inn. Basics hookups, decent view of mountains in kind of a rough town. Verdict: keep driving.

This place looked a bit sketchy! Very far from any kind of restroom and not well kept at all. The pictures online makes this seem way nicer than it is 😅
