About SR1

Campground in Connecticut.

Nestled in Connecticut, SR1 offers a welcoming escape for RV travelers seeking a genuine New England camping experience. This public campground provides a solid foundation for exploring one of America's most historically rich and naturally beautiful regions, where colonial heritage meets coastal charm and vibrant fall foliage.

Connecticut's location on the northeastern seaboard makes it an ideal hub for discovering the broader New England experience. The state itself boasts a fascinating blend of small-town character and cultural attractions. You'll find yourself within easy reach of charming coastal villages, historic downtown areas, and scenic waterfront communities that capture the essence of New England living. The region's deep roots in American history mean that Revolutionary War sites, colonial-era buildings, and maritime heritage are woven throughout the landscape.

The natural environment surrounding the area offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Connecticut's forests provide peaceful settings for walking and exploring, while numerous state parks and recreational areas offer hiking trails, picnic spots, and nature observation. The state's position between major metropolitan areas and pristine natural spaces creates an interesting dynamic where you can experience both the energy of the Northeast Corridor and the tranquility of rural New England.

The timing of your visit matters significantly in Connecticut. Spring brings warming temperatures and blooming landscapes, summer offers long days and vibrant community events, fall transforms the entire region into a spectacular display of autumn colors that draws visitors from around the world, and winter provides a quieter, more contemplative camping season for those prepared for colder weather.

SR1's position as a public campground means you'll find practical, no-frills accommodations that appeal to a wide range of RV enthusiasts. Whether you're using it as a base camp for exploring Connecticut's attractions, a stopping point on a larger New England tour, or a destination for experiencing authentic regional character, this campground serves as a convenient launching point. Families, retired travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and history buffs alike will find value in what the area offers.

Ii visited Aces High RV Park 3 months ago and absolutely loved it. It’s a beautiful outdoor camping resort with a peaceful atmosphere and very clean, well-kept grounds. The whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable !. Close to many attractions , 7 miles from the beautiful long island sounds!! Highly recommend it.

Just stayed for 3 nights (Thursday-Sunday morning) and spent $470. Site was very nice, concrete pad, full hookups, water front. Aside from the site I cannot believe this campground charged this much for what it is. Nothing going on, one bathroom closed, and they actually charge to use the showers. I frequent KOA’s and I am used to having way more amenities, and they’re not as expensive as this cam... Just stayed for 3 nights (Thursday-Sunday morning) and spent $470. I understand it’s ’off season’ however it is a year round campground that is charging premium pricing and I feel too expensive for what it is.

This by far is the worst campsite I have ever experienced for three reasons: 1) pricing, 2) dishonesty in policies, and 3) combative/nasty attitude. This by far is the worst campsite I have ever experienced for three reasons: 1) pricing, 2) dishonesty in policies, and 3) combative/nasty attitude. The facilities were good, but the three reasons listed above outweighed the good facilities. I will never stay at this campsite again. 1) Pricing—Upon booking a site for 30 days I was quoted a price of just shy of $2200 for my small 20’ trailer for a 30 amp service. You can get weekly rates at Best Western down the street for $507 with breakfast included—almost $200 cheaper. As another comparison I had just moved my RV from Four Seasons RV park in southern New Jersey (a great RV park) where I paid $950/month as compared to $2200/month—a substantial difference. 2). Dishonesty: Example: Upon asking about the high pricing I was told I was renting during the busy season (Oct 15 thru Nov 15) and that the whole trailer park was full. Upon leaving the office I drove the entire park and counted 27 vacant spots. I was further told that they would lower my rate following my first 30 days; however, the weekly rate was just shy of $600/week—higher—not lower! Upon being told that the rates would be lower—but they instead were higher I made a decision to leave and go to Best Western—5 miles down the road. However, I needed to stay 2 additional nights for which they wanted to charge me $125/night. Upon complaining they lowered the rate for the 2 nights to $75/night. 3) Combative/Nasty attitude: During my stay I accessed the office several times with questions and each time the older lady was there it was contentious. The younger staff was polite and friendly; however, the older lady (I believe the owner) was contentious, rude, and curt. I would not want to do business with this facility again as I felt like I could not trust them.

The sewer hookup was located at the rear of the pad, so we needed two hose lengths for both water and sewer connections—something to keep in mind when packing. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. During our stay, they hosted a cornhole tournament and other fun activities that added to the community vibe. The heated saltwater pool was a highlight—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The campground’s location is ideal, with most attractions about 20 minutes away, making it a convenient base for nearby adventures.

If anyone is interested in visiting New England or camping in Connecticut this is a perfect place. It’s close to beaches and other attractions . They also have cabins available. We will definitely be coming back . Very quiet and relaxing ! Oh and they are open all year round ! Thank you Aces for a wonderful time 😊👍🏻 see you next year if not sooner!
