About Horsefly Hill

Campground in Florida.

Nestled in the heart of Florida, Horsefly Hill offers RV enthusiasts a genuine slice of authentic Floridian camping. This public campground provides a welcoming retreat where travelers can disconnect from the hustle of daily life and reconnect with nature, family, and the simple joys of the open road.

Florida's natural landscape is one of its greatest treasures, and Horsefly Hill puts you right in the middle of it all. The state's unique ecosystem offers visitors an opportunity to experience diverse wildlife, lush vegetation, and the authentic Florida wilderness that many travelers seek. Whether you're an early riser who loves watching the sunrise over natural springs or someone who enjoys evening walks through pine forests, the surrounding area provides countless opportunities for outdoor exploration and appreciation.

The location makes Horsefly Hill an excellent base for exploring some of Florida's most interesting natural attractions. The state is famous for its springs, sinkholes, and natural waterways that have fascinated visitors for generations. Birdwatchers particularly appreciate Florida's incredible variety of avian species, from herons and egrets to more elusive species that call the state home. Fishing enthusiasts will find plenty to love as well, with Florida's abundant freshwater and coastal options within reasonable driving distance.

What makes this public campground special is its appeal to a wide range of travelers. Families appreciate having a safe, comfortable home base for exploring the region. Solo travelers and retirees enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and sense of community often found at quality public campgrounds. Adventure seekers use it as a jumping-off point for activities throughout central Florida. The ratings from previous visitors speak volumes about the experience here.

Florida camping offers something different from other regions. Rather than mountains or deserts, you'll experience subtropical forests, open skies, and that distinctive Florida light that photographers love. The relatively mild climate means extended camping seasons compared to much of the country, making it an ideal destination for those looking to escape winter weather or simply enjoy year-round outdoor living.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Moonshine Acres RV Park. Tina and her staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and stress-free. The quiet atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, and every detail showed how much pride the staff takes in the property. Tina and her team were incredibly accommodating and friendly, always willing to help and quick to respond to any needs. It’s rare to find a place that combines such a calm setting with such outstanding customer service. If you’re looking for a serene RV park in Fort White, we highly recommend Moonshine Acres. I couldn’t be happier with my stay and will absolutely be back!

Smaller campground, sites are crushed stone with picnic tables. Some sites are a bit uneven so you may need additional blocks. Road noise from trucks on the highway can be a challenge but otherwise the space is quiet. Its very convenient to the Springs and visiting our family in the area. We've stayed here multiple times over the past 2 years and will return!

Nice small RV park. Very nice owners. Loved the big game room. Ping pong, pool table. We didn't sleep much because of the road noise, didn't expect that road to be so busy. We did enjoy going to the springs at the Ichetucknee state park just down the road. We will have to come back when it's warmer to go tubing or kayaking.

We stayed in the glamping tents and they were wonderful! It was the end of September and the two ACs kept our space cool enough during the day and even chilly at night. This was a great place to stay. We were supposed to stay at O'Leno State Park but the cell reception was bad. My husband called Moonshine Acres to see if they had an opening and they took us immediately. Clean with a lot of space and amenities. They had a clubhouse with a lot of things to do with a patio and seating. All around a great place at which to camp.
