You should only camp here if you have to. You'll survive, but it's too low, wet, and buggy. Porta-Potty is within 15 feet of the picnic table and 25 feet of tent sites. It's almost impossible to escape the scent of pickled excrement. NPS needs to revamp the site. Book the chickee instead. There are two good tent sites on the upstream side of the old structure, and at least one site on the do... You should only camp here if you have to. You'll survive, but it's too low, wet, and buggy. There are two good tent sites on the upstream side of the old structure, and at least one site on the downstream side where there is a second picnic table. But the downstream side is low, tons of crab holes, so even though we could have gotten further from the porta-potty, we still chose the upstream side for our tents.

It's a small site, but we enjoyed it. We went in March and were well prepared for bugs, so it wasn't unbearable for me. If you're prepared for bugs and a small space, it's a cozy little backwater site surrounded by greenery.

Beautiful spot. Perfect in a lot of ways. But bring all the mosquito repellent you can carry and more. We had to get into our tent at 7:00 in the evening and not leave because the bugs were so bad.
