About River Junction Campground

Campground in Florida.

River Junction Campground offers a peaceful escape into Florida's natural heartland, where the gentle flow of two converging rivers creates a serene backdrop for your RV adventure. Located in the panhandle region of Florida, this public campground serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring one of the state's most authentic and unspoiled areas, far from the crowded tourist zones that dominate much of coastal Florida.

The surrounding landscape is characterized by lush vegetation, clear waterways, and the kind of quiet that modern travelers often crave. The junction itself is a scenic focal point, where the meeting of waters creates a natural gathering place that has drawn visitors for generations. This area represents quintessential Old Florida, with a slower pace and stronger connection to nature that appeals to those seeking genuine outdoor experiences rather than developed resort amenities.

The region offers remarkable opportunities for water-based recreation. Paddling, fishing, and boating are popular activities that take advantage of the pristine river systems. The clear waters are home to native fish species, making this a destination appreciated by both casual anglers and serious fishing enthusiasts. Beyond the water, the surrounding forests and natural areas invite hiking, wildlife observation, and photography. Early mornings and evenings are particularly rewarding times to spot native wildlife, from wading birds to deer and other creatures that call this ecosystem home.

For those interested in history and culture, the area contains remnants of Florida's pioneer past and Native American heritage. The region's human history is woven into the landscape, offering context and depth to your visit. Small towns nearby provide local dining and supply options while maintaining their small-town character.

This campground particularly appeals to nature lovers, fishing enthusiasts, paddlers, and anyone seeking to experience Florida beyond the theme parks and beaches. It's an excellent choice for families who want to introduce children to camping and outdoor skills, as well as retired travelers looking for peaceful, affordable RV destinations. The relatively undeveloped character of the area means fewer crowds and a more intimate connection with Florida's natural environment.

Beautiful campsite along the river. Park was quite at night. Does have a bathhouse with showers that could use some repairs but is still usable. Was able to hike a little along riverbanks...overall a great spot.

It's an okay campground. The bathrooms were dirty and could have been easily cleaned by the host. You are out enough to where there's no outside noises and lots of stars to see. A nice walking trail as far as you want to go. However, there's no electricity at any of the sites and only running water which would be a nice added bonus if they had electricity.

It was quiet while I was here in sight 9. The sites are small from what I have seen. I didn't use any facilities I just came for the quiet and I was pleased.

This is one of our favorite places to go camping. You can sit on the soft sand beach at the lake, take your kayak in the water, lots of fishing to do, and our favorite is camping at one of their wonderful sites.
