About Withlacoochee River Park

Campground in Florida.

Withlacoochee River Park offers RV campers a wonderful gateway to one of Florida's most scenic natural waterways. Located in the heart of Florida's Nature Coast region, this public campground provides an ideal base for exploring the peaceful beauty of the Withlacoochee River and its surrounding ecosystems.

The Withlacoochee River itself is the park's main attraction and greatest asset. This gentle river winds through relatively unspoiled Florida landscape, creating opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing that draw visitors from across the state. The river's clear springs and shallow sections make it accessible for paddlers of all skill levels, while anglers appreciate the freshwater fishing opportunities available year-round. Birdwatchers will find themselves in paradise here, as the river corridor hosts numerous species including herons, egrets, bald eagles, and countless others that thrive in these protected habitats.

Beyond the river itself, the surrounding area offers authentic Florida nature experiences. The region's natural springs maintain comfortable water temperatures throughout the year, and several are accessible for swimming and exploration. Hiking trails wind through hammocks and along riverbanks, providing excellent opportunities to observe native wildlife and experience Florida's natural landscape up close. The slower pace of life in this part of Florida appeals to travelers seeking genuine nature immersion rather than tourist attractions.

The location serves as an excellent jumping-off point for exploring the broader Nature Coast. The charming small towns nearby offer local restaurants, shops, and supplies without the crowds of more developed areas. Whether you're planning a relaxing weekend getaway focused on river activities or a longer stay exploring the region's natural wonders, Withlacoochee River Park provides convenient RV camping with easy access to some of Florida's finest outdoor recreation.

This destination particularly appeals to outdoor enthusiasts, retirees, snowbirds seeking mild winter weather, and families wanting to introduce children to Florida's natural environment. The peaceful setting and abundance of outdoor activities make it an excellent choice for those looking to escape the hustle of everyday life and reconnect with nature.

Nice place, scenic, you can rent a canoe and a kayak to go down the water, very relaxing Nice people, Jay and his wife were very pleasant and helpful, bringing over firewood and the Canoe. Jay would ride around at night on his ATV keeping an eye on things and making sure people were safe. Hot water, clean bathrooms, can take a shower. They have a washer and dryer. Very peaceful and relaxing

Just wanted to let everyone know the canoe rental and rv park is now under new ownership and management. It has already been improved greatly in the last week. Most of the trash is gone and the roads are being paved over with asphalt. They are installing several new rv spots with power right on the river bank. There is also a brand new bathroom/shower building. Definitely seeing great things... Just wanted to let everyone know the canoe rental and rv park is now under new ownership and management. Nice, clean and quiet campground. Everyone from the owner to fellow campers are so nice. We stayed one weekend, liked it so much we went back to weeks later.

We used them as a parking spot to paddle up to silver lake campground. Will definitely be using them again, as they have a gorgeous spot on the river for camping.

As a place for RVs it's very, very old. It only has 15 sites and it's seriously run down (including all the campers we saw). The kayak and canoe rental equipment are very run down as well. The lady that owns the place is 74 and in poor health. She was however pleasant enough.
