About Tomoka State Park Campground

Campground in Florida.

Tomoka State Park Campground offers a remarkable gateway to one of Florida's most pristine coastal regions. Located in Ormond Beach along the scenic North Beach Street, this 65-site destination provides the perfect base for exploring the natural beauty and rich history that define this corner of central Florida's Atlantic coast.

The park sits within Tomoka State Park, a 1,680-acre preserve that showcases the best of Florida's diverse ecosystems. Nature enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise here, with opportunities to explore maritime hammock forests, salt marshes, and pristine waterways that have remained largely unchanged for centuries. The park's location along the Tomoka and Halifax Rivers creates an ideal setting for kayaking, fishing, and wildlife observation. Visitors frequently spot dolphins, manatees, herons, and countless other species that call these waters home. The Native American heritage of the area adds another layer of historical significance, with the Tomoka people having thrived here for generations before European contact.

Ormond Beach itself is a charming coastal community with a laid-back Florida atmosphere. The town is known as the Birthplace of Speed, with a fascinating history tied to early automobile racing on the hard-packed beach. Today, visitors can enjoy miles of beautiful sandy beaches perfect for swimming, shelling, and sunset watching. The downtown area features local restaurants, shops, and galleries that capture the authentic character of a traditional Florida beach town.

The campground's location makes it convenient for exploring nearby attractions. Daytona Beach is just a short drive away, offering amusement parks, the famous Daytona International Speedway, and vibrant beach culture. History buffs can visit the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, while nature lovers will appreciate the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey. The area offers excellent dining options ranging from fresh seafood shacks to upscale restaurants, and numerous recreational activities including golfing, biking, and beachcombing.

Families appreciate the safe, natural setting that encourages outdoor exploration and creates lasting memories. Couples seeking romantic getaways find the peaceful atmosphere and scenic beauty ideal for reconnection. Retirees and snowbirds value the year-round pleasant weather and low-key environment. Whether you're an avid angler, paddler, wildlife photographer, or simply seeking a quiet retreat near the ocean, Tomoka State Park Campground provides the perfect home base for your Florida coastal adventure.

Cute little state park. Its mainly a campground with river access and a camp store, which is adorable. The camp hosts were very welcoming and have several group activities at the clubhouse. The sites are on the smaller side though, so large rigs could never use this park. I had site 43-.there happened to be a fence right in front of the site. I liked it here. First time here. 4 stars says I liked it here. Worth noting... I tent camped in June in 200% humidity. Sleeping was miserable. That's on me. The closest bathroom was closed for repairs. That info would've been helpful to know when booking the site. Gotta admit, that peeved me. I had a crazy neighbor with 2 loose dogs that loved me. I had a crazy neighbor with 2 loose dogs that loved me. So much for getting away from it all! But... The 100 sites all looked nicely partially private. Water & Electric on site. Table. Firepit. My Site 56 was smaller than some I saw, but cozy and one I'd choose again. One thing about the campground worth noting is that it is separated from the rest of the state park. The only thing to do within walking distance is walk to the bathroom. And walk a little farther to the bathroom as my case was that weekend. The State Park is beautiful, but you must bike or drive to enjoy it. The Park: Beautiful. There are lots of waterside spots to fish, picnic, and put in a kayak or canoe. The Outpost: What a cool spot! It's definitely a great camp store and spot to kick back, rent a canoe/kayak, book a boat tour, or just chill with a cold beer. Totally wish this was within comfortable walking distance to the camping area! I paddled 4 miles out into the Halifax River. Saw dolphins. Bird life. Jumping mullet. Super enjoyable! Four Stars. I hovered over Three Stars. I do think I will return after trying other nearby campgrounds first. (Princess something might be next?) Will definitely do it in cooler weather and will call first to check the status of restrooms and construction. ☮️❤️

Really nice campground that we have been to twice now. Roomy sites and lots of walking areas. Beautiful sunsets creekside. Today is the fourth time we have stayed here and we always enjoy it. Tucked along N Beach Rd. In Ormond Beach, it is not too crowded and has alot of cute stores and a wonderful beach. Last night, New Years Eve, there was music and a woman who taught us barn dancing. Very fun.

Excellent campground. Very quiet. Sand road is a bit snug & curvy in parts of the loop but I have a mid sized 5th wheel. Lots of access to the river. Excellent store (the outpost).
