About Koreshan State Park Campground

Campground in Florida.

Nestled along the peaceful Estero River in Southwest Florida, Koreshan State Park Campground offers RV travelers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue. This 305-acre state park preserves not only pristine Florida wilderness but also the fascinating remnants of a 19th-century utopian community, creating a destination that appeals to history buffs, nature lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

The campground itself provides a serene setting where Spanish moss drapes from ancient oak trees and native palmettos create that quintessential Florida atmosphere. The park's location in Estero places you on the quieter side of Southwest Florida's Gulf Coast, away from the hustle and bustle of major tourist areas while remaining conveniently close to everything you might need. The Estero River winds through the property, offering opportunities for peaceful walks along the water's edge and chances to spot native wildlife in their natural habitat.

One of the park's most distinctive features is the preserved Koreshan Settlement, a National Historic Landmark. Founded in 1894, this intentional community followed unique philosophical principles, and today visitors can explore the remaining structures, including a beautiful mansion, art hall, and other buildings that tell the story of this remarkable period in Florida history. Walking through the settlement feels like stepping back in time, and it provides fascinating context for your stay that you won't find at typical campgrounds.

The natural environment here is equally compelling. The park encompasses both upland and wetland areas, supporting diverse ecosystems and wildlife. Birders particularly appreciate the variety of species visible throughout the year, and nature photographers find endless opportunities to capture Florida's unique landscape. The river itself invites exploration, whether you're interested in kayaking, canoeing, or simply enjoying the water from shore.

Your location provides easy access to the greater Naples and Fort Myers area when you want to venture out for dining, shopping, or additional attractions. Yet the park itself encourages you to slow down and embrace a more contemplative pace. It's perfect for those seeking a Florida camping experience that goes beyond typical beach tourism, offering instead a deeper connection to the state's natural heritage and human history. Whether you're spending a long weekend or settling in for an extended stay, Koreshan State Park Campground delivers a memorable and enriching RV experience.

For the admission of $4 you will enjoy the great outdoors while admiring the historical cabins throughout the grounds & the simple lifestyle items displays dating back to the early 1900s. This is one of the coolest state parks we have been to. You can go into a few buildings and the rest you get to see through huge panels of glass. There's information everywhere. The trail through the woods is amazing. The bamboo is like nothing I've ever seen. The staff is warm and welcoming. The cute little gift shop has good prices. The camp ground is closed for renovations, but we will be back... This is one of the coolest state parks we have been to. I have lived in Lee County for over 35 years and passed by this place multiple times. I finally stopped there and to my surprise, because it was Veterans day this State Park waived their fees. First stope was at the Art Hall where we were greeted by a volunteer that has been doing this for over 10 years. She also is a retired school teacher of Lee County and was a wealth of information. The park with it artifacts is beautiful and well taking care of. If you enjoy history like I do, this is an absolute must.

This is a great park! Get a taste of history and, if you're lucky, catch a wild animal or two! Well laid out! Pay a small fee for parking. ($1.35 per hour)
