About Dockery Lake Campground

Campground in Georgia.

Dockery Lake Campground offers a peaceful escape into Georgia's natural beauty, nestled within the national forest system where mountain air and pristine waters create an ideal retreat for RV enthusiasts seeking solitude and outdoor adventure. This intimate campground with just eleven sites provides the perfect balance between accessibility and seclusion, ensuring that you won't feel crowded while still enjoying the camaraderie of fellow nature lovers.

The campground sits adjacent to Dockery Lake, a scenic mountain lake that serves as the centerpiece for outdoor recreation. The clear waters invite fishing enthusiasts to cast their lines for bass and other freshwater species, while the surrounding forest provides excellent opportunities for hiking and nature exploration. The moderate elevation brings cooler temperatures year-round, making it comfortable even during Georgia's warmer months, and the changing seasons paint the landscape with remarkable colors that make each visit unique.

Being situated within the national forest means you're surrounded by thousands of acres of protected wilderness. Trails wind through the area, offering everything from leisurely walks to more challenging hikes that reward adventurers with stunning vistas and peaceful forest encounters. The natural setting attracts wildlife enthusiasts who appreciate the opportunity to observe deer, birds, and other forest creatures in their native habitat.

The location strikes an ideal balance for travelers wanting to disconnect from the hustle and bustle while still being within reasonable driving distance of Georgia's attractions. Whether you're interested in mountain scenery, outdoor recreation, or simply unplugging for a few days, this campground delivers an authentic national forest experience. The small number of sites means reservations are essential during peak seasons, but this scarcity also guarantees a tranquil atmosphere where the sounds of nature replace the noise of busy parks.

Families, couples, and solo travelers all find value in what Dockery Lake offers. Retirees appreciate the peaceful environment and lower-key atmosphere, while adventure seekers enjoy the proximity to forest trails and water activities. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the broader national forest region and discovering hidden Georgia mountain gems.

Beautiful camp ground well kept. Nice hiking trails. Sites are a good size, but not all are level.

Site 5 reviews... Lake view, but not really lake accessible for a kayak. The walking trail is in between the campsites and the lake. Small enough and everyone was friendly enough it wasn't a big deal, but worth noting. Im posting this from the site as TMobile service works great. There's 2 tent pads at the site and lots of space. Toilets were a short walk and well maintained. Great getaway.

Great hidden gem. Small campground with good sized tent sites mixed in with some picnic areas. 3.5 miles from the lake to the AT. Campsites are on or across the road from the loop trail. If you are on the lake, you are on the trail. Near zero cell service once you turn into the road which made for a delightful tech break! Such an awesome little campground! We brought our two furbabies here for their very first camping trip and we were not disappointed. Great place to hike. Went with wife to hike and went all the way up to Appalachian trail... Medium to high difficulty but good and very well maintained. An overlook would've been best but that's nature...
