Whether you're an experienced outdoors enthusiast or someone looking to disconnect from the everyday hustle, Bad News Camp provides an authentic base for adventure. The setting offers genuine quiet and solitude, allowing you to fully experience the rhythms of nature with your family or fellow travelers.

This is the kind of place where stargazing becomes an event, where morning coffee tastes better surrounded by towering trees, and where the only noise you hear is birdsong and wind through the pines. The straightforward, no-frills approach means you're paying for access to incredible natural surroundings rather than resort-style extras, making it an excellent value for budget-conscious travelers who love the outdoors.

Bad News Camp attracts a mix of visitors: long-term adventurers exploring Idaho's backcountry, families seeking a genuine camping experience, and travelers who appreciate the charm of public lands camping. The consistently high rating from previous guests reflects the campground's appeal to people who know what they want from an RV camping trip: good location, clean facilities, and access to some of Idaho's most beautiful country.

This destination works particularly well for those planning extended stays while exploring nearby trails, fishing spots, and scenic drives. It's perfect for RVers who see their campground as a jumping-off point rather than a destination itself, offering the practical base you need to explore everything the region has to offer.

Great camping spot, was a little tight for our 21 foot trailer but not bad. Would give it 5 stars but the potable water is pictured below!!!! There is no way this is checked and cleared monthly!!! Love the fire ring and table at each campground! Bring your own water, but other than that not a bad little campground

Toilet is central to all sites, bring own potable water. Creek runs near sites #3, #4 and #5. Sites #2 and #3 are furthest from the main road. Nearest cellular reception at Granite Creek, 7 miles south toward Idaho City. Great weekend vacay with a good book!

Sites are well maintained. Bathrooms were immaculately clean without odors. Water pump easily accessible. Access to creek right from camp site, (#3). Love Bad Bear. Easy camp with family. Hint: site #3 is a double site which explains the higher cost.
