About Graves Creek

Graves Creek (also known as Graves Bay) Campground is located on the west shore of the Hungry Horse Reservoir off of Road 895.  There are 3 campsites, a vault toilet, and fishing access.

Nestled in the heart of Idaho's rugged wilderness, Graves Creek offers RV campers an authentic escape into some of the most pristine natural landscapes the Pacific Northwest has to offer. This public campground serves as an ideal basecamp for adventurers looking to explore the Salmon River region and the surrounding Nez Perce National Forest, providing access to some of Idaho's most spectacular backcountry terrain.

The area surrounding Graves Creek is characterized by dramatic mountain vistas, dense coniferous forests, and the soothing presence of clear mountain streams. The region's elevation and climate create a refreshing retreat, especially during warmer months when lower elevations become uncomfortably hot. Early mornings at the campground offer crisp air and the sounds of nature that remind visitors why they chose to spend time in Idaho's wilderness.

This location appeals particularly to outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize access to hiking, fishing, and exploration over luxury amenities. The Salmon River is legendary among fly fishers and rafters, attracting serious anglers from across the country. The surrounding forests offer numerous hiking trails ranging from leisurely walks to challenging backcountry routes, making it suitable for various fitness levels and interests. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with chances to spot deer, elk, and various bird species throughout the seasons.

Graves Creek works well for those seeking solitude and a genuine connection with nature rather than a developed resort experience. It's particularly appealing to RV campers who want to base themselves in one location while taking day trips into the surrounding wilderness. The proximity to the Salmon River and national forest lands means that visitors can enjoy multiple activities without relocating their RV repeatedly.

The area has rich history tied to Native American heritage and early frontier settlement, adding cultural depth to any visit. Whether you're a serious outdoors person, a fishing enthusiast, or simply someone seeking peaceful solitude under the stars, Graves Creek provides a genuine Idaho camping experience in one of the state's most compelling natural settings.
