Scenery and set up in campground were lovely. Ranger Gonzales was wonderful and evoked the memory of younger days when rangers were more interactive with campers. This is an established camp with safe fire pits, picnic tables and a vaulted toilet. Labor Day weekend we were disappointed by the two large families that decided the rules didn't apply to them -even though the camp has clearly posted no... Labor Day weekend we were disappointed by the two large families that decided the rules didn't apply to them -even though the camp has clearly posted notices. Please don't drive off road into the reservoir and decide to create your own camp (complete with unsafe fire). I'm thankful the ranger was able to diffuse the situation and get them back into a designated spot. Leave it BETTER than you found it and show your tribe of littles how to be good forest stewards, then we can all enjoy the weekend.

Great place. Not easy to get to the lake though. Prepare yourself for a1.5 hr drive for the last 34 miles of Hwy. Nice sites. Have to arrive by Thursday mid day if you want a first come first serve spot.
