About Moose Creek Flat Campground

Campground in Idaho.

Moose Creek Flat Campground offers a genuine escape into Idaho's pristine wilderness, where towering pines and the gentle sound of flowing water create an authentic high country camping experience. Located in the heart of Idaho's backcountry, this public campground serves as an ideal base for those seeking adventure away from crowded tourist destinations while still enjoying comfortable RV facilities.

The campground sits in a region renowned for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities. Anglers will find excellent fishing in nearby streams and rivers, with cold mountain waters that challenge even experienced fly fishermen. The surrounding forest provides habitat for diverse wildlife, and patient observers may spot deer, elk, or other native species during early morning or evening hours. The elevation and location create a refreshing climate that offers relief during hot summer months, making it a perfect destination for those escaping lower elevation heat.

Hiking enthusiasts will discover numerous trails ranging from gentle riverside walks to challenging backcountry routes that reward explorers with stunning vistas of Idaho's mountainous terrain. The surrounding national forest lands provide seemingly endless opportunities for exploration and discovery. Photographers find inspiration in every direction, from wildflower meadows in spring and early summer to dramatic storm clouds rolling across mountain peaks.

The campground appeals to a wide variety of travelers. Families appreciate the safe, natural setting where children can experience outdoor adventures and develop a connection with nature. Retirees find it an excellent home base for extended stays, offering peace and quiet without the commercialization of larger RV resorts. Solo travelers and couples seeking romantic getaways value the secluded atmosphere and natural surroundings.

This is a place where the pace slows down, where the night sky reveals countless stars unmarred by light pollution, and where the primary soundtrack is nature itself. Whether you're planning a weekend retreat or an extended mountain camping adventure, Moose Creek Flat Campground provides access to one of Idaho's most beautiful and unspoiled regions.

The pictures are from the road over the campground.

We enjoyed how close the river was to our campsite. You can hear the traffic on the road, but that did not deter us from having a nice time.

Very well maintained USFS campground. During the day the vehicle traffic is busy on the 191Fwy. However, the campground is located on the river.

Simple spot to camp along the river, right off the road. It is well kept and the spots are easy to find and are large (you could navigate a pretty big rig here easily). Be prepared for no privacy between sites, no trees at your site, and some road noise. But, it's easy to get to and convenient to many other attractions. But, it's easy to get to and convenient to many other attractions. We enjoyed our ~12 hour overnight stay, but if we were going to be spending a lot of time at the site we would have looked for another campground. An employee was out by 9am marking campsites as either reserved or available for the next night.
