Small campground go midweek ,non holidays, fills up fast, good mtn. Biking right out of the campground and amazing wilderness hiking there too. Old school campground, dusty at dry times, small but not cramped unless the doubles are full. Good day use areas if you have to wait it out unlimited dispersed camping a half mile away.it was our guaranteed quick getaway spot any day of the week, but it's... Beautiful spot to camp or hang out for the day. For the most part, the experience was all positive. The current rate for a campsite is 18.00. Looking around the Campground, it seemed a bit much. In fact, there's only one in the camp area. An adjoining hiking trailhead parking lot has more but the stalls in the men's didn't lock nor did the outer door latch. Mildly concerning in bear country. I noticed a couple of picnic tables in sites that were in poor condition. The beach space from the Campground is fairly limited as well. The road in isn't too bad, but a little rough at least in my car. Fantastic dark sky's for photos, hiking, beautiful views, very near the water for recreation.

Lovely, quiet campground right beside Tincup trailhead (leading to Alice Lake/Toxaway loop). Shallower lake than others nearby which means it is perfect for SUP/kayak and swimming and no boat noise (perfect!). $20/night (First come, no reservations - quieter mid week), flat and spacious sites. Fred (the host) is friendly and checks you in :) Highly recommend staying here - site 13 at the end/turn... Pettit Lake Campground is AMAZING... Except during Labor Day weekend! Then it is just plain INSANITY! Our camp host Keith was fabulous during the 9 days we were there even though he had so much chaos to deal with.

Absolutely gorgeous campground nestled between the picturesque lake and main trailhead to the mountains. Kelley, our camp host, was quite the character and boy was he on top of things. Every single time we needed help he would just show up as if I had summoned a genie. He got us squared away in a beautiful site and made sure it was freshly raked and ready for us to settle in. He got us squared away in a beautiful site and made sure it was freshly raked and ready for us to settle in. I think he knew everyone in the campground which is quite remarkable considering the churn of a holiday weekend. Anyway, if you're looking for a quiet place to stay with both lake and trailhead access, this is the spot for you.
