About Rexford Bench Campground

Campground in Idaho.

Nestled in the heart of Idaho's scenic landscape, Rexford Bench Campground offers a genuine escape into nature for RV travelers seeking authentic outdoor experiences. Located at 316 Rexford Bench Loop in the small community of Rexford, this public campground provides an ideal base for exploring some of northern Idaho's most beautiful wilderness areas.

The Rexford area is a gateway to incredible outdoor recreation opportunities. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by pristine forests, mountain vistas, and access to some of the region's best fishing waters. The nearby Kootenai River is a premier destination for anglers, offering excellent opportunities for both fly fishing and traditional angling throughout the season. For those who love hiking, the surrounding landscape provides numerous trails that range from easy nature walks to more challenging backcountry adventures, with options for exploring the nearby Cabinet-Yaak Ecosystem.

What makes camping in Rexford special is the sense of remoteness combined with the genuine hospitality of a small Idaho community. The area attracts outdoor enthusiasts, photographers, and nature lovers who appreciate getting off the beaten path. Wildlife viewing is exceptional in this region, with opportunities to spot deer, elk, and various bird species. The quiet nights are interrupted only by the sounds of nature, offering a peaceful respite from busy RV park environments.

The community itself reflects classic rural Idaho character. Visitors can explore local culture, meet friendly residents, and enjoy simple pleasures like stargazing without light pollution. The elevation and location create beautiful seasonal changes, making spring through fall particularly appealing for camping adventures. Summer temperatures are comfortable, and the area avoids the extreme heat found in lower elevations.

This campground appeals to RV enthusiasts who value natural beauty over elaborate amenities, travelers interested in fishing and outdoor exploration, and anyone seeking a genuine mountain camping experience. It's perfect for families wanting to introduce children to wilderness camping, couples seeking quiet getaways, and solo travelers pursuing outdoor adventures.

This was one of the nicest campgrounds where we have ever camped. Beautiful and HUGE sites. Clean bathrooms. Great hiking. You can buy firewood from a guy in the town of Rexford.

Man this place is great! Close to an awesome off-road trail to an amazing beach (only 4x4 vehicles can get there, not kidding). Mid-week, this campground is a treat. Highly developed for a Forest Service campground. Very busy on summer weekends. Good access to the lake. We very much enjoyed kayaking in Abayance Bay - amazing, beautiful place! There are lots of FCFS sites, if you can get here by Thursday for the weekend. If you are able to boon-dock and don't mind leveling the trailer, or you are tent camping, try Tobacco... Mid-week, this campground is a treat. Highly developed for a Forest Service campground. Lots of path ways (paved, gravel, and/or dirt) to walk, whether it is to the lake or take a path into the wooded areas. While hiking the pathways they have posted interesting documented facts about the local, animals, birds and ecosystem with in the park area. (some of the fact sheets are missing, and would be nice if they replaced them)
