OverviewSituated on the banks of the Lower Owyhee River, Snively Hot Springs offers year-round primitive soaking against a scenic desertscape. Snively Hot Springs Recreation Site offers a unique camping experience in the remote high desert landscape of southwestern Idaho, where natural thermal waters meet rugged wilderness scenery. This public campground provides an excellent base for travelers seeking authentic outdoor adventures far from crowded commercial parks, with the distinctive appeal of natural hot springs right on the property.

Located in the vast sagebrush country of Idaho's remote interior, Snively Hot Springs combines the relaxation of soaking in naturally heated mineral waters with the adventure of exploring one of the least crowded corners of the Pacific Northwest. The area surrounding the campground stretches across wide open spaces with sweeping views of the high desert terrain, where golden grasslands give way to distant mountain ridges. This landscape creates an atmosphere of true solitude and connection with nature that many RV travelers find deeply restorative.

The natural hot springs that give this recreation site its name are a main draw for visitors. These geothermal features provide a rare opportunity to enjoy warm mineral-rich waters in their natural setting, an experience that becomes especially memorable during cooler months when soaking in steaming hot springs under open skies takes on an almost magical quality. The contrast between the cool desert air and the therapeutic warmth of the springs creates a unique sensory experience.

This location appeals strongly to travelers who appreciate undeveloped natural areas and don't require extensive resort-style amenities. Outdoor enthusiasts, photographers capturing high desert landscapes, and those seeking peaceful getaways find the remote setting particularly rewarding. The area surrounding the campground offers excellent opportunities for hiking, wildlife observation, and exploring the distinctive ecology of the sagebrush steppe ecosystem.

The campground serves as a gateway to exploring the vast public lands of southwestern Idaho, where adventurous RV travelers can discover hot springs, scenic viewpoints, and outdoor recreation opportunities with minimal development. This is genuine high desert camping in a location that rewards those seeking authentic wilderness experiences over creature comforts.

The hot spring water flows into the river from a hill on the bank, and it is scalding hot! Pay attention to where it flows in. This area was very crowded during the daytime, and some people took the liberty of a clothing optional approach. Just so you are prepared if you have kids in tow. A helpful tip from local brought us to a sunrise soak. We had the whole place to ourselves for over an hour. Primative parking is available as well as a pit toilet.

Great experience at Snively Hot Spring! Such a cool thing to feel the hot water of the spring mixing with the cold water of the river. It started out as our own personal spring but quickly became busy…and for good reason. Beautiful scenery and an awesome experience.

Awesome place to catch a soak. Almost always crowded but no big deal. People tend to leave a lot of trash which sucks but we just pick it up and keep it moving. There's two parking lots, both on the left hand side, with short paths to the pools. There is a restroom at the first lot you come to. The pools technically "close" at sunset. But whatever. Cops DO come but just ask you to leave. Check it out! And pick up your trash :)
