About Casino Creek

Federal campground in Idaho.

Nestled in the heart of Idaho's stunning national forest landscape, Casino Creek offers RV campers an authentic experience of the Pacific Northwest's natural beauty. This national forest campground provides an excellent base for exploring some of Idaho's most pristine wilderness areas, combining accessibility with genuine outdoor adventure that appeals to both seasoned RVers and those new to camping.

The setting around Casino Creek is characterized by towering evergreen forests, rushing waterways, and the kind of peaceful solitude that draws people away from their daily routines. The campground's location within the national forest system means you're surrounded by thousands of acres of protected land with excellent opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The creek itself adds a soothing natural soundtrack to your camping experience, with the sound of flowing water creating a tranquil atmosphere that helps visitors truly disconnect and unwind.

What makes this area particularly special is its accessibility to both developed recreation areas and backcountry exploration. Fishermen appreciate the nearby streams and rivers that are home to native trout species, while hikers will find numerous trails ranging from easy nature walks to more challenging backcountry routes. The national forest setting means you're in a landscape shaped by nature rather than commercial development, offering authentic camping experiences with genuine connection to Idaho's outdoor heritage.

The surrounding region offers cultural and historical attractions worth exploring during your stay. Small towns nearby provide supplies, dining options, and local character that complement your camping adventure. The elevation and forest setting create pleasant temperatures throughout much of the year, making Casino Creek a destination suitable for spring through fall camping, with crisp mornings and comfortable evenings that many RVers find ideal.

Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or an extended national forest retreat, Casino Creek's location and amenities make it a solid choice for RVers seeking that perfect balance of outdoor immersion and practical camping comfort in one of America's great natural regions.

Located near Redfish Lake and Stanley it was nicely situated across the river from the road which helped quiet the road noise. The whole river corridor in this area is very busy and even the dispersed camping areas are full. The road in was well maintained and easy to navigate with nice turn around at the end. We found a nice little sandy beach area by the trailhead on the river to swim safely. Ve... Well I would have like to stay here since I came from Nampa. But unfortunately non equestrians are allowed to use the equestrian spots, according to the Park Ranger. Yet equestrians are not allowed any where else. Sound fair to you?

It's close enough to Redfish Lake to day use there, and still quiet enough to get some sleep at night. There's a great trail that begins at the end of the campground for horses, hiking, and biking (both mountain and motor). There are several hot springs that dump into the river within a couple minutes. The campsites themselves could use a little work. There wasn't water available when we went, but... There wasn't water available when we went, but there's plenty of places nearby to get more water. Take toilet paper (the availability is spotty in the bathrooms). If you have problems sleeping I would recommend a sleeping pad or air mattress. Overall a great experience though.

Wide spaces, river access outside your rv, beautiful setting, inexpensive...what's not to like? I imagine in season it's crowded. Come in the fall. Cooler temperatures but fewer people. Close to Stanley and sufficient services for in the country. There was a Bbear in the area warning. It's an adventure.

Stayed is Spot 13. Not much shade. Well was not available during our stay. Bear activity was high and a trap was in place. Road nose from light traffic on 75 was minimal on a Saturday evening.
