It was great! Beds were soft, rooms were adequate (they were renovating and unfinished, but it was still way better than camping!) The area has a remote, small town charm to it. I wouldn't come expecting anything more than the minimums. Lower expectations = higher satisfaction. Would stay here again. Great Pizza and local vibe at the neighboring Lowman Inn too!

First, I have to say that the folks that run this place are super friendly and helpful, giving us plenty of great local information and showing us around the campground, so it hurts to only give 2 stars. But as a rule, if I wouldn’t stay in the same place again, I don’t rate something higher than a 2. The RV sites did have the basics - reliable water, power, and sewer - but the sites were very unl... But as a rule, if I wouldn’t stay in the same place again, I don’t rate something higher than a 2. The RV sites did have the basics - reliable water, power, and sewer - but the sites were very unlevel, taking some time to block our RV enough so we could slide our slides out. There is also a LOT of junk around - old unused trailers, trash, parts, etc that don’t quite add to the curb appeal. The hot pool was HOT, and a pretty cool view, but tons of algae all around, unlevel concrete, and although we had booked a private swim it was not private. The folks who were also there were plenty nice so we didn’t bother to complain, but for having to book in advance and pay an extra $30 for our family to swim this was not worth it. With 4 kids our site fee ended up being over $75, and we don’t feel it’s worth that. Kirkham Hot Springs is just down the road, but it’s a busy/fast highway for rural ID and it was a bit sketchy getting over there with small kids. I’d stay somewhere on either side and enjoy Kirkham on the way.

Lisa and Ray run Haven Hot Springs resort just a stones throw from Kirkham Hot springs, where adjacent USFS campground hot exposed barren ground and does not permit vehicle access. This is probably in our Top 10 favorite places we have camped. Our family camps a lot, both in fancy campgrounds and just boondocking. I was a little nervous when I read the 1-star review here, but I’m SO glad we went for it anyway! This is a family-run location. The owners are kind, hard working, GOOD people. This is a family-run location. The owners are kind, hard working, GOOD people. The grounds, pool, bathroom, and cafe were clean and cozy. We didn’t intend on staying in the area, but found ourselves in need of a campsite, so we stopped by. There is no phone reception up there, but their store window gives beautifully clear instructions on how to connect to their wifi and do the day-of reservations when no one is at the store. We did this reservation process at 8:30pm, understanding that the owners were home and resting. We waited a little while, and the owner came down, introduced himself, took our payment, and gave us a brief tour. He was fantastic! The hot springs pool on site can be rented by guests at a reduced rate during the day, but is complimentary use for guests after 10pm, (respectfully sharing with other guests) until sometime early morning. The latter suited my husband and I perfectly! We LOVED the pool after 10pm. We stayed the last few days of September, so the nights were COLD, but we sat in the hot spring pool watching stars shoot by and were completely mesmerized by the perfect pool and stunning location. As I said before, it is a small family run location. If you are respectful of their facilities (for example, campers help keep the bathroom clean after their own personal use), and have a gracious attitude and a thirst for adventure and beauty, this will quickly become one of your favorite places to camp, too!
