About Round Lake State Park Campground

Campground in Idaho.

Nestled in the beautiful Panhandle region of North Idaho, Round Lake State Park Campground offers RV travelers a serene escape into nature without sacrificing comfort and convenience. Located in Sagle, this campground serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring one of Idaho's most picturesque areas, where mountain vistas meet pristine waters and outdoor recreation opportunities abound.

The campground's primary draw is its proximity to Round Lake itself, a stunning alpine lake that captivates visitors with its clear waters and scenic backdrop. The lake provides excellent opportunities for fishing, with anglers regularly pulling in rainbow trout and other species. Boating enthusiasts will find the calm waters perfect for kayaking, canoeing, or leisurely cruises, making it an excellent destination for families looking to combine RV camping with water-based activities. Those who prefer to stay closer to their rig can enjoy peaceful lakeside walks or simply relax with a good book while taking in the mountain air.

Sagle's location in the Idaho Panhandle puts you within striking distance of numerous attractions. The nearby Sandpoint area, just a short drive away, offers charming downtown shops, excellent restaurants, and cultural events throughout the year. For outdoor adventurers, the surrounding national forests provide countless trails for hiking and mountain biking, ranging from easy scenic walks to challenging alpine routes. Winter visitors will appreciate proximity to regional skiing and snow sports facilities when the season turns cold.

The campground itself sits in a peaceful setting that appeals to RV travelers seeking a quieter, more natural camping experience. The area's cooler temperatures and mountain breezes make it particularly popular during summer months when lower elevation destinations become uncomfortably hot. Fall visitors find themselves surrounded by stunning seasonal color changes, while spring brings new growth and wildflower displays throughout the region.

This destination suits a wide variety of travelers: families seeking outdoor adventure, retirees looking for peaceful natural settings, fishing enthusiasts, and anyone yearning to experience Idaho's natural beauty without venturing into remote backcountry. The combination of excellent water recreation, nearby amenities in Sandpoint, and the inherent tranquility of a mountain lake environment makes Round Lake State Park Campground a memorable RV destination.

Lots are close with no privacy, there are a few that have privacy. Very quiet except for the very busy passing cars on the main road. Bathroom with showers are nice, they do not supply ANY soap. Bring your own hand soap. They only supply water and a hand blower to dry your hands. Most people were great. Friendly people. Single camping to families to retirement age. I would not bring dogs. I think it would be great if they made a lot into a fenced dog play area.

Absolutely delightful camping experience here!! The sites are large and well-maintained. We were in a tent/camper van and very comfortable on the gravel pad. There was a small swimming area with a small sandy beach as well. The visitor center had lots of interesting things for kids to do and learn about while staying there.

Round Lake is small but very beautiful. No gas motors are allowed on the lake, which makes it very peaceful. There is a hiking trail with several bridges all the way around the lake. Dogs are allowed on a leash. A nice dock to fish from and boat launch with beach for swimming. We love it there!

The campground is nice, with great showers and clean bathrooms. The beach area/docks is pretty small, with some weeds in the water, but once you get deep enough, the water is cleaner and fun to swim in. We were disappointed that out of state guests have to pay double what Idaho residents pay. Many campsites have sloping ground which is difficult for tenting.
