This small campground in Karnak, IL is situated perfectly adjacent to the Tunnel Hill trail. Sites available with electric, electric and water and, electric water and sewer. Although not a lot of privacy the sites are spaced out pretty well. Good place for RV's, trailers and tents.

We rode from campground to Tunnel Hill trail head access. There is just around the corner from campground a Dollar General for about any need and quite a few wants. No dining establishments nearby that we wanted to pedal too after doing half the trail and turning around at Tunnel Hill. Nice fire rings. We actually were too tired to fire ours up so we pulled out with a fresh fire built just waiting for someone to touch off when they got the site next.

RV camped. Solid 3 stars...almost 4. Campground is small and basic. That said - it is well maintained. Electric service (30/50) available. Fairly flat area to back in park...no pull through. Area for kids to play and a medium size area to have a group cookout. Tent sites looked interesting. Bring bug spray...mosquitoes are no joke but site is 1/2 mile from swampland. You can buy wood nearby or you... RV camped. Solid 3 stars...almost 4. Campground is small and basic. That said - it is well maintained. Electric service (30/50) available. You can buy wood nearby or you can scrounge for fallen wood if you have boots and pants all around the attached small nature trail or venture off of main nearby trail. Dump station is available @ entrance, one tank of water available @ site and they ask you to not take more. Sites are 30 - 40 feet from each other side to side...w easily 60 feet between each site tail - stern. Good stopping point if you have a drop trailer to embark on Shawnee adventures.

It's an average campground. There was hardly anyone their over labor day weekend which was okay with us. It sits behind a quiet little town. Site was quite. No one picked up our trash for 3 days and it was overflowing. So, each morning we had to pick up what the critters scattered. Would have been happy to empty it ourselves except there wasn't a dumpster. We came in expecting full hookup (and we... It's an average campground. We came in expecting full hookup (and we had electric and sewer), but the water was a shared component and we did not have a hose long enough or a splitter. They only have port-a-potties and porta-showers. Luckily we were self contained. If we head back down to the Cache we would stay again, but be better prepared.

Pretty nice campground. Fairly level spots, partial shade for some. Some cement slabs for 50 amps. Many full hook-ups. Close access to bike and walking trails. Close to wildlife preserve. Gave 4 stars because site not mowed, up to our knees and fire pit not cleaned.
