Farmington is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Illinois weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Farmington.
Don't miss local attractions near Farmington. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

Great campground with lots of planned activities for Halloween. Small children enjoyed splashing in the creek. Playground and large fields for activities. Management is very attentive and approachable.

Stayed there the first week of September 2025. Great quiet place on the creek, decent sized clean sites, and pet friendly. Highly recommend if you're wanting to be in the area to see what that part of Missouri has to offer.

Great campground. Very clean, well kept. Super quiet. The owners are very friendly. Go over all the activities that are scheduled for the day. Really nice people. Grandkids had a blast, playing in the creek, petting, feeding the animals and swimming in the pool. Pull through sites are very accessible. Big rig friendly! Restrooms are single private restrooms with showers.

The nicest RV park we have been to in all the years we have been on the road. The owners and their entire family are the nicest host you can imagine. Facilities are top notch. Our grandson loved the petting zoo and being able to feed all of the animals. The coffee shop on the weekends is the best. They make one fantastic mocha frappe. We highly recommend anyone considering camping or glampin... The nicest RV park we have been to in all the years we have been on the road. I would rate TEN stars if the Google reviews allowed it. Great job guys!!!!

We completed the second half of our summer camping vacation at Big Creek and we had a wonderful time. The family that owns the park is so friendly, hardworking, and welcoming. They take the cleanliness, peace, and safety of their property very seriously. While I see that this has caused some disagreements in the past, their rules are not unreasonable and make the park more pleasant than your typic... We completed the second half of our summer camping vacation at Big Creek and we had a wonderful time. The family that owns the park is so friendly, hardworking, and welcoming. They take the cleanliness, peace, and safety of their property very seriously. While I see that this has caused some disagreements in the past, their rules are not unreasonable and make the park more pleasant than your typical state-run facility. In fact, we had left Montauk to come here and kept remarking on how quiet and clean everything was in comparison. Montauk was dirty and absolutely run over with loose pets and kids on bikes during our stay. You will not find that at Big Creek. About the park: We visited the creek and it was a perfect little spot to cool off and let our son catch tadpoles and crawdads, but the pool was my son’s favorite feature. It was on the smaller side but perfect for the kids to have their fun. Their bathrooms/showers were pristine and very spacious. The petting zoo was cute and the goats are always hungry so bring your quarters for snacks! Visiting the coffee shop on Saturday and Sunday was such a fun treat, Laura really knows how to make a delicious latte. And the night sky was unbelievable, bring your telescope!! The area: Big Creek is very close to our favorite river spots and many other attractions, all within a 30 minute drive or so. You must bring your own supplies and food with you, there is just not a good place to shop nearby and that unfortunately comes with the territory (very rural). Those who are familiar with this region would know, but those from out of town might not expect the lack of resources. There is a Dollar General with cold groceries about 20 minutes away in Lesterville, and that’s it, so be prepared. There are some okay restaurants in Caledonia, which is a cute historic town to spend a day doing some antique shopping and browsing. Make sure to look up local river spots and plan a day on our gorgeous Missouri waterways! They are the best. Unfortunately we left this trip early due to cancelled plans/thunderstorms, but I’m already looking at a return trip in September for the apple festival in Caledonia. We look forward to our next visit!
