My son and I go camping in Southern Illinois every year and always try to pick new areas. This was our first time at Trail of Tears, we didn't get to hike and explore as much as we normally do, because I currently have a broken foot. But we did enjoy our time at the campground. We rented campsite N1 which was perfect for us, because we like to hammock camp. Campsites were very good sized and space... Awesome quiet and I do mean quiet maybe a bird every now and then but not much else I've seen considering the camping roads run along the top of the bluffs.

Trailer of tears is a good place to take your family on a quick outdoor adventure. You can even take the kids swimming in there swimming area. Going down the hills after going to lookout point was my favorite though. P.s. watch out for others though don't want anybody getting hurt.
