my kids came home crying. they stated many counsels were mean to them and because some counsels on multiple occasions disregarded their needs such as first aid, when one of my kids got bit my a spider and the bite was swelling a lot. i would not recommend. they didn't even tell us that our children were asking to go home, much less a spider bite. this place and the staff are terrible.

My daughter started going 3 summers ago after finding out about the camp through her cousin. She absolutely loves it and I wish we would have discovered it sooner! She begged to go back for 2 weeks the following year and set out to start saving to pay for her second week on her own. She talks about camp very fondly all through out the year and counts down the days until it's camp time again. Her dad and I love hearing the stories, camp songs, and nefarious shenanigans that all the campers participate in. I love that they can't have electronics and they are running around outside from sun up to after sun down. She just applied to be a junior counselor(juco)for the upcoming summer and will be there for 3 weeks this year, with the first week being a setup and get camp ready week. I can not say enough great things about this camp.

This camp made such a powerful important impact on my life in so many ways. Sending your kids here is about the best decision you can make. They will connect with nature and the people around them. They will gain important knowledge about the world that you can't learn anywhere else. Make sure to send your kids for at least 2 weeks.

I love Camp Palawopec. It truly is one of the greatest places I have ever been to. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The setting is stunning. The activities and trips are enjoyable. The Nickels have kept this place great. This coming summer will be my 4th year, I am a Counselor now.

I would have given more than 5 stars if I could. This place is special. You can feel it the moment you drive up the 1-mile-long gravel driveway. You are greeted by the most fun energetic staff ever. You are greeted by the most fun energetic staff ever. Then you see the breathtaking grass field called the valley. If you are lucky you can see the morning fog lingering in the valley and smell the campfire embers from the night before. Then they grab your stuff and hike up the hill to your home for the summer. The most quaint and beautifully rustic cabin. The cabins have names like Black Snake Lodge, Fox's Den, Deer trails, etc. It is truly what every kid dreams of. You can tell right away that not only will it be a fun time for your child but they will make friends for life. It is more like family than fellow cam mates. I went here as a camper and then work there for many years in the late '80s and early '90s. It was my happy place. I loved it so much that my daughter started going and now she is on staff. It is her happy place too. 40 years later I am still in touch with my summer family from my time there. I heard a psychologist once say we can teach our kids almost everything to prepare them for life, but there is one thing it is impossible to teach our kids......independence. Camp introduces your child to independence at an early age and makes them a more well-rounded independent being later in life.
