We hiked the trails in early November and it was beautiful. The paths are well maintained and easy to follow. The fire tower offers beautiful panoramic views and is worth the climb. The lake happened to be drained when we went but it was still well worth the visit!

First of all I want to address some of these "complaints" in these reviews. Are showers "hotel" clean? Uh no it's camping and glamping, if demanding that perhaps don't camp, turn in your tents, or don't rent the cabins. On subject of showers, yes the floors in the preshower area can get wet might suggest putting on something to wear into that area don't mind getting a little wet. The water was not... On subject of showers, yes the floors in the preshower area can get wet might suggest putting on something to wear into that area don't mind getting a little wet. The water was not turned off to camping areas because some "budget cuts" maybe when you visited it was off for maintenance issues? Park was relatively clean considering it was memorial day weekend and a graduation going on Saturday. We did witness visitors breaking rules like mopeds on hiking trails, trying to sneak to non boat ramp areas to launch theirs but unsuccessfully lol. Cabins in family areas are to be cleaned before you leave some in our group mentioned theirs weren't cleaned well by last group, however the one my wife and I was in was in good shape. Only complaint I really had was the bathroom facilities were to be cleaned by our group yet they were accessible to people on the trails? Anyway it was a fun visit, I will admit some of the facilities looked like needed some basic maintenance but nothing terrible.

We spent three nights here camping and exploring. The campground was well kept and the restroom/shower facilities were clean and more than adequate. Mid week was not too crowded but by the weekend most sites were occupied. Rangers patrolled quite often and were always helpful. The lake was beautiful with numerous places to sit and enjoy or to fish if desired. We were disappointed that they did... We spent three nights here camping and exploring. We were disappointed that they did not have the boat rentals available during our stay for some reason. There are several nice hiking trails to enjoy as well. The park has a nice beach area and a camp store. The Lincoln Bicentennial Plaza was very impressive as was the Lincoln Boyhood Home National Memorial that is located just across the road from the entrance to the state park. Camping costs were moderate and we felt it was a good value for the stay.

Great park, well maintained. Lots of trails and picnic areas. Nice campground. In the summer, at the lake, one can take sun and swim. A great family-oriented state park. September 1, 2025 At this time the lake has been drained, and the fish have been moved to another lake. Work is done to repair the dam that contained the water from the lake.

The sites are all gravel with various degree of slant/incline. Some are pretty small. The picnic tables are very little. Fire rings are large. Staff existed but I wouldn't call them friendly or helpful, with exceptions to the young lady in the store out by the beach.

Lots of sites with some decent shade but not too many obtrusive trees. The sites can be very slanted at times but it’s usually back to front. Bathrooms are clean and there is good fishing, a beach, bike riding, family cabins, and Lincoln boyhood home national park across the road. Summertime is usually full of folks going to Holiday World, so it can get very busy in summer. We have a camped here... Lots of sites with some decent shade but not too many obtrusive trees. Beautiful campground! I agree there are some great sites and some slanted sites and sites with too many roots or rocks. But I was sleeping in my car and our friends had one of the good spots so it worked great for us. This place was gorgeous. Everywhere we went 😍

No wifi and can’t burn your own wood? (Some) of the sites are small, and kids can’t ride bikes after dark. Compared to other campgrounds, our least favorite so far. Sorry, just not a good experience, not planning to return.
