The no fee campground includes five paved and mostly level back-in sites with picnic tables and fire rings. A single vault toilet, which was clean and well stocked when I visited in December, is located adjacent to the campsites. The trail offers interpretive signage, viewing decks, and rest benches. There's no traffic noise out here, except for the intermittent passing of barges transiting the river below.

A great, free campsite. About 5-6 sites, each with a fire ring and picnic table. No amenities, which is completely fine, except a vaulted toilet. Could easily fit my truck and cargo trailer. The end of the road is a loop, so you don't have to worry about getting stuck. Nice place for a stopover, even has a little trail in the back if you have more time. I wouldn't spend multiple days here but I... A great, free campsite. About 5-6 sites, each with a fire ring and picnic table. No amenities, which is completely fine, except a vaulted toilet. Pros: free, pit toilet, picnic tables, seemingly new fire rings. Cons: small, sloping spurs, only five sites that are often already taken. Noise! The Ohio River has lots of barge traffic with chugging engines and blaring horns, and Louisville is a major UPS hub so there is lots of aircraft noise, especially in the early morning - before 5 am.

I only stayed a night, but it was quick, free, and peaceful. The few sites overlooked the Ohio River. I would recommend this stop if you are self-sufficient and enjoy peace and quiet.
