It was our first visit, and I was pleasantly surprised at how peaceful it was for a weekend. The entrance guard was incredibly kind and welcoming—she gave us great tips on trails, landmarks, and even let us know our ticket was good for any state park that day. We decided on Trail 3, which is labeled “moderate” but definitely felt more challenging with its rocky paths, inclines, and winding turns. Thankfully, the tall trees gave us plenty of shade. The big highlight was the fire tower—a fun climb with rewarding views at the top. The kids loved it, and it made for a great midway stop. We spread out for a picnic at the base, which was shady and relaxing before finishing the trail. The path eventually led us back to the Canyon Inn, where we took a bathroom and water break, peeked into the gift shop, and then hit the road. All in all, McCormick’s Creek made for a fantastic afternoon outdoors. It’s a beautiful park with friendly staff and trails that are both fun and challenging—I’d definitely recommend it for groups, families, or anyone looking for a refreshing hike.

Spent two nights at Canyon Inn, very comfortable…room was tiny but larger options are available just be sure to ask for room with two beds. Food is good down home country cooking, fried chicken and mashed potatoes and there’s a pretty good salad bar. Lobby is lovely with fireplace going in cold weather and the surrounding woods and trails are beautiful. You can still see tornado damage from 3 year... Overall an excellent weekend!

McCormick’s Creek State Park is a beautiful and fascinating place to explore. The waterfalls are stunning, and there’s an abundance of wildlife—we spotted salamanders in several spots, saw a few water snakes, and even came across plenty of fossils. Wolf Cave was a really neat adventure (definitely bring a flashlight!). Just know it’s a very tight space, and we had to turn around when people entered from the other side since there isn’t enough room to pass. It was also really interesting to see the amount of storm damage from a couple of years ago that took down so many trees—it gives you a real appreciation for the power of nature. Overall, this is a wonderful park to hike, explore, and take in the natural beauty of Indiana. Highly recommend!

Stayed two nights at the Canyon Inn! Breakfast was so good. Room 313 was clean and spacious. The Echo Canyon Loop and the hike to Wolf Cave was super fun and moderate level. Going back for sure!!!!

This park is truly amazing. Had a great time hiking and exploring the park grounds and trails. Got to see some of the damage from the 2023 tornado. Hopefully they can get the rest of the park and campgrounds open soon. Would definitely like to camp here. Trails were easy enough for our two dogs to walk with us. The staff member I had a chance to talk to was very friendly and informative. She was able to give me a couple of suggestions for a great place to eat. Can’t wait to go back and explore more of the park grounds.
