We live right down the road and frequent this campground often for the beaches trails kayaking and disc golf course. Beautifully maintained. Hats off to whomever cleans the rest rooms- they are always super clean.

Wonderful campground overall. It has places to fish, swim, boat, paddle, and watch gorgeous sunsets/sunrises. The only flaw is a decent selection of campsites have a large slope, making it hard for tent camping and lawn chair setup. 4/5 stars

This was a fairly nice campground. A lot of young families and children. It was packed. Plenty of space between the RVs. They maintain the grounds really well. We left this campground for the campground south of the lake, however.

Really like this place. Both beaches were clean. The bathroom and shower facilities were clean. Check-in was painless. Didn't like the fact that they dumped the cleaning water from the bathroom in the grass. They were also mowing at 530 pm and went right through our site while we were cooking other than that recommend this place

Wonderful host. She was very helpful. The campground is very nice and well maintained. I had an outhouse near my tent site and it was spotless. There was lake access, hiking and biking trails and playgrounds for the kiddies. Bring your National Park Seniors pass and get 50% off the $14 fee (tent - no power). All in all a great stay.

Road was plenty wide enough for passing traffic and decently maintained, but was plenty bumpy for a travel trailer.

Rooms and service above are not applicable. We stayed at RV site in a beautiful, remote area. Had good water pressure and excellent streaming wifi. Never saw any staff on location, all details of stay handled by email. There is a gravel road for several miles to access the campground, but it was better than some paved roads we’ve traveled on, and very scenic.

The River Oaks Resort is a nice well kept, quiet and spacious campground! We spent five nights there and enjoyed the location which was 30 minutes or so from Des Moines. We toured the Zoo, Art Museum center and the Science Center. This times of year was nice with the fall trees. The campground has a nice restroom, laundry room and game building. I will be staying there when we go back to Des Moi... The River Oaks Resort is a nice well kept, quiet and spacious campground! I had such a great experience staying at this RV park! From the moment I called for the reservation, everything felt easy and welcoming. The sites are roomy, level, and well taken care of, so getting set up was a breeze. The whole place is super clean—bathrooms, showers, and laundry included—and you can tell the management put a lot of pride into keeping things nice for their guests. It has full hook-ups with internet included! What I loved most was the atmosphere. It’s peaceful and quiet at night, but during the day there’s a friendly vibe—everyone waving, people walking their dogs, kids riding bikes. It just has that relaxed community feel. I had NEVER stayed in a RV alone, and this was the first stop for my fulltime RV journey, not only Tina(manager), but every last person I met welcomed me with open arms, whether it was my endless questions about rv life, or just a stroll or golf cart tour of the property. The location is also spot on: close enough to stores, restaurants, and attractions, but still tucked away enough that you really feel like you can slow down and enjoy nature. There is a little over 2 miles of dirt road that is ALWAYS level, and county maintained (I only include this so it doesnt come as a surprise) After two days I was zipping up and down it like a pro….who said city girls cant adapt? lol The staff here really went above and beyond too. They were always kind, helpful, and quick to answer any questions. Tina is ALWAYS, thinking of creative ways to bring everyone together! You can tell she genuinely cares about making sure everyone has a great stay. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave! I transferred my residency because I love this place, and people so much, and i am already thinking about when we (my two cats & I) will go back. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and welcoming RV park, this one’s a gem!
