Waverly is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Iowa weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Waverly.
Don't miss local attractions near Waverly. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

Very relaxed atmosphere. You can hang hammocks. Which is something we really enjoy doing. Play ground is a little mediocre, but hey, they still have one! Lol, shower house is built up due to possible flooding. One side has stairs and the other a ramp. Showers are pull chain and HOT! Pet friendly. Very helpful staff.

Great rustic campsites available along the Cedar River, trees and fields. Electric and full hookups available in field type setting. Flush toilets available. Poor shower facilities. Fantastic connection to dedicated paved bike trails to downtown Cedar Falls, connecting to great trails in George Wyth trails. Under used trails.

We had a large family group. We were at a family wedding reception when the water started rising. We had no idea, and to say "it wasn't on our mind", lol. The rangers continued trying all of our numbers until he reached us. A big shout out for our park rangers, they have MANY jobs people over look!! Yes we were last ones out but it was before the water reached us, thankfully. (But not by much)... We had a large family group. We were at a family wedding reception when the water started rising. (But not by much) The shower houses are nice and clean, brightly lit and the exhaust fans are great! Only wish for a small bench, I am disabled and it's a struggle, standing so long. Would love a ramp on the other side too. I was able to drive to other side, thankfully.

The park itself is large with lots of space, quite roads, river access and a large gun/bow range. I go for the Fire Trail which is a three miles long trail (6 miles out and back). The trail is often under water in a few spots and only mowed a few times a year, but if your up for the hike it's very quiet and peaceful.

You can do camping, boating fishing, shooting (of wide ranges). We even flew kites here on a sunny day. With toilets etc. Beautiful place.

Very nice campground. The lake is larger and allows ski boats, jet skis, etc., which makes for more traffic on the lake and more noise than some of the smaller lakes. Also, you can hear some highway traffic noise in the distance. We love Blackhawk state park! 1. The bathrooms are nice and clean which makes for a good camping trip 2. The city of Lake View is a great town to be in. It has all the amenities you would want in a small town (small grocery store, gas stations, Dollar General, 2 restaurants, and a delicious coffee shop). 3. The lake is busy but not over crowded. 4. The camping spots are pretty big! Last time we went however we were in a smaller spot so we’ve made note of some larger ones for next time! 5. The campground hosts are so friendly and helpful. Great campground only a few hours outside Omaha.
