About Birmangham Ferry Backcountry Area & Boat Ramp at Land Between The Lakes

Campground in Kentucky.

Nestled within the stunning Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area in Kentucky, the Birmingham Ferry Backcountry Area and Boat Ramp offers RV travelers a remarkable escape into nature. This unique destination sits in the heart of one of the largest inland peninsulas in the United States, surrounded by over 170,000 acres of pristine forests, waterways, and wilderness. The park provides an authentic outdoor experience for those seeking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life while maintaining access to excellent recreational opportunities.

The setting here is truly special. Located between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, the area offers unparalleled access to water-based recreation. Whether you're an avid angler hoping to catch some of the region's abundant bass and catfish, a boating enthusiast ready to explore the expansive lakes, or a kayaker seeking peaceful paddling among scenic shorelines, the boat ramp facilities make accessing the water convenient and straightforward. The backcountry designation means you're camping in a more remote, undeveloped setting that appeals to those who want a quieter, more immersive nature experience away from crowded campgrounds.

For land-based activities, the Land Between The Lakes area is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails that showcase the region's natural beauty. The diverse ecosystems support an incredible array of flora and fauna, making every season rewarding for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.

The location also provides convenient access to the broader attractions of western Kentucky. The Land Between The Lakes itself features visitor centers, historic homesteads, and educational facilities that teach visitors about the area's rich cultural and natural heritage.
