About Cane

Federal campground in Louisiana.

Nestled in the heart of Louisiana's natural landscape, Cane National Forest offers RV campers a genuine escape into the great outdoors. This peaceful destination provides a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, inviting travelers to slow down and reconnect with nature in one of the South's most distinctive environments.

The forest setting here is quintessentially Louisiana, characterized by towering pines, Spanish moss-draped hardwoods, and the region's signature wetland ecosystems. The terrain offers a unique camping experience quite different from what you'd find in other parts of the country. Whether you're an experienced RV traveler or relatively new to camping, the natural beauty surrounding Cane National Forest creates an atmospheric backdrop for your outdoor adventure. The gentle landscape and shaded camping areas make it comfortable during warmer months, and the mild Louisiana winters mean you can enjoy extended camping seasons.

For those interested in outdoor recreation, the forest provides excellent opportunities for hiking, wildlife observation, and photography. The diverse plant and animal life native to Louisiana make every walk through the area a chance to encounter something fascinating. Birdwatchers particularly appreciate the variety of species that call this region home throughout the year.

The location also puts you within reasonable distance of Louisiana's charming small towns and cultural attractions. The state's rich heritage, influenced by French, Spanish, African, and Native American cultures, permeates the surrounding communities. You'll find genuine Louisiana hospitality, authentic regional cuisine, and unique shops and galleries worth exploring during day trips from camp.

Cane National Forest appeals to visitors seeking a more authentic, back-to-nature camping experience without unnecessary frills. It's ideal for families wanting to introduce children to outdoor camping, retired travelers looking for peaceful exploration, and nature enthusiasts who value pristine forest environments. The moderate rating reflects a park that prioritizes natural character over resort-style amenities, making it perfect for those who appreciate simplicity and genuine forest camping.

Has a pretty pond and was peaceful. Price is about as low as can get. Does look like they are adding gravel to the sites and we would have stayed there but T-Mobile is sketchy. (A must for us) It works better in the back but not consistent speed test. Everything is gravel. I walk my dog a lot and hard on her feet. Need more pavement. Manager was nice on the phone when I called to inquire.

The rv park itself is fine. Just gravel, but big lots easy to get into. The WiFi is useless. If you have tmobile, you'll get no cell reception. Att you get barely any service. Don't hope to do anything on the internet. The truck stop is terrible. All the toilets are taped over and not working. I hate to say but there's a language barrier so the clerk can't really help you.

Management is horrible. I've been coming here a couple of days and this place a dump. Plumbing is bad especially in the casino area. Seems like management is lazy cause the casino stays filthy.....ashws everywhere, beer canes everywhere, etc. Whoever owns this place is clearly in for the money cause they doesn't care how filthy this place is. Oncw I saw a guard clean up and you know management is... Management is horrible. I've been coming here a couple of days and this place a dump. Plumbing is bad especially in the casino area.
