Another reviewer mentioned the very narrow pads and soft sand - definitely be prepared, saw one camper get very stuck, but we all pitched in to help. State needs to inject some $$ into this park - it has so much potential. Jazzy pass gets you travel into and around NOLA from Algiers ferry for $3/day - bargain.

Also near the Mississippi River Trail to bike - 17 miles long on the West side and 26 on the East side (but you can only drive across the river, no bike path or lane crosses the Mississippi at an area near the trails).

There were several camp hosts in the park but I never saw them around the park so I'm not sure what their function is. It's obviously not for maintenance or cleaning.

Park is poorly kept and does not reflect that of other state parks in the Louisiana system. My perspective is the proximity to New Orleans is a factor which is very unfortunate Either way they can do better. It’s not a case of can’t it’s a case it won’t someone in the system is not doing their job. The pool is inoperable and will require extensive maintenance to get it back in order. I witness... It’s not a case of can’t it’s a case it won’t someone in the system is not doing their job. The pool is inoperable and will require extensive maintenance to get it back in order. I witnessed two maintenance workers hiding in the back of the park in space 67 for two hours. They rolled in on their equipment and did absolutely nothing for those two hours. It was not a break it was skimming wages with zero accountability nor work performed. This park needs a new manager. Clearly urban work force woes. Sad
