Booked my deer hunt for Thanksgiving week 2025 with Umcolcus Sporting Camps/Spaulding Lake Outfitters after finding them online and I cannot say enough positive things about Chuck and Lisa. Chuck was able to share an amazing amount of knowledge and is intelligent/hardworking enough to accommodate any guest of any skill level. Lisa made phenomenal meals everyday and was the kindest hostess you could ask for. They made me feel like one of the family while I spent the holiday with them. To top it all off, I had the opportunity to take a top-tier big woods buck. Overall, Umcolcus Sporting Camps is a phenomenal place to unplug and the hosts are flexible enough to work with anyone who is interested in experiencing the Maine woods, whether that be hunting, fishing, trapping, biking, hiking, or just relaxing in nature.

My brother pulled a moose tag in 2021 and secured accommodations and a guide here. I was his second on the tag and he got his moose. Better yet, we got to know the previous managers and present owner/managers of the camp and now secure a cabin here the same week every year for the past five years. The food and the hunting are outstanding. The Oxbow checkpoint to the North Woods is about 20 minutes... My brother pulled a moose tag in 2021 and secured accommodations and a guide here. Always feel a little sad when it’s time to leave.

Bucket list hunt I’ve been waiting on for over forty years. I absolutely had a blast hunting with Chuck and Lisa at Umculcus. The lodge was clean and quaint. Very relaxing. The food was excellent. Top notch hounds as well. And my friends killed a moose as well. Absolutely beautiful country. Even caught a few nice trout. I will be back.

We traveled to Umculcus from South Carolina, for a moose / bear hunt with hounds. If you are looking for a true Maine experience with phenomenal staff and guides, look no further than Umculcus Sporting Camps. Chuck and Lisa were second to none, Guides Aaron and Jamie had us on multiple bear within hours. The cabins and lodge were immaculate, and very well maintained. We will be back !!

And Chuck offered to come get us with his truck and trailer. We ended up towing it to there camp. When we arrived Chuck offered his own personal sled to use. Unfortunately it was in the shop. But the offer was very generous. Lisa and Chuck are wonderful people. And they made our short stay wonderful. The cabin was clean, warm and ready for us upon our arrival. The shower house was exceptionally clean. And the food........wow!! Lisa is the bomb in that kitchen. Her deserts was some of the best I've tasted. Breakfast and the dinners were awesome. This is our 4th year staying at Umcolcus camps. And this year with Chuck and Lisa and "Duke". I give a 6 ☆ rating!!!
