The WiFi is superb at every site, unlike what we have found elsewhere. The free amenities that they offer (bikes, kayak, and canoe) are all readily available. Their small store offers some fresh baked goods (everything was delicious) and other items. Owners Mark and Wesla are a joy to talk to and are very helpful. We stayed a few days here in July prior to going to Canada. Big Lake Campground deserves a 5+ star rating.

This is a very nice park less than 5 miles off US1 and near the border crossing with Canada. I wanted to add my comments to the other 5-star reviews so future readers won’t pass this one by. This is an open park in a pretty, rural area. It’s laid out in a standard grid with plenty of pull-throughs. The sites are full-service, quite spacious and very level. The wifi is very strong (signal strength 100% per my extender). As for amenities, there is a large lake where the owners have kindly left kayaks and canoes for campers’ enjoyment. They offer an immaculate and comfortable rec room with a laundry and screened patio looking out towards the lake. Oh, and there is even a dog park. Overall this place is top quality; clean, quiet and comfortable.

The first thing that impressed us with Big Lake RV Park and Campground was its pristine condition. It is a smaller campground, but pride of ownership is obvious with lots of attention paid to detail. We fell in love with the huge, fenced dog park. Owners Mark and Lindsey go above and beyond to make sure campers have everything they need at their fingertips from fresh baked pastries to complimentary kayaks, canoes, and bicycles. A short walk down a mown path to the lake reveals awesome views of Big Lake. We enjoyed sitting in the campground’s chairs, viewing the lake in the cool of the woods in total silence. The planned absence of lighting makes for perfect nightly stargazing. This is one of those rare campgrounds you hate to leave simply because of its serenity, beauty and the hospitality of its owners.

My partner and I camped here in a tent for 6 weeks from August until October. We had a wonderful experience. The staff are very friendly and take great care of the campground. I noticed that they sweep each campsite/RV site after someone leaves to make sure it's pristine for the next guest! The showers are very clean and free (huge bonus!) and the water stays hot. The location is idyllic and in close proximity to Portland and Old Orchard Beach. Being an adult-only campsite, it was very relaxed and everyone was polite and considerate of others, especially during nighttime hours. I don't have a single complaint. We were so comfortable living here for such a long time and we would happily stay again!

First of all, this is a great central location close to much of the southern Maine Coast; drivable to Ogunquit, Kennybunkport, Saco, Old Orchard, Freeport, and Portland. A Maine Eastern Trail cycling/walking entrance is a short bike ride down the road. The Eastern Trail is still broken up into disconnected segments, but you can traverse regular roads to make the connections. There is a beautiful marsh area right down the road with a lovely walking path. The campground itself is decent, in a grove of giant lovely pine trees. But the desireability of the individual sites varies so carefully peruse the site map. The pull through sites in the middle are ok, but the exterior circle is much nicer. The front sites are brighter with nicer views than the back sites. In general the sites are small, but pretty comparable to most campgrounds these days. Most have power, water and sewer hookups. There are only a few 50amp sites, most are 30amp. All sites have a picnic tables and a fire pit. The bathhouse is clean. 2 showers in the men's and women's bathrooms. The cleaning crew gets a little grumpy if you are showering when they want to clean. There is a spot outside to wash dishes if you want and a decent washer/dryer room. Cost is $2/load. The woman in the office is very sweet and helpful. They lock the gate at night so be sure to get the codes.

Not a place for my partner and I to go back too. People running the office was super nice and helpful. Hospitality was on point.

They also offered use of bikes as well as canoes. Not only was there lake access, but also a beautiful pond. Fire wood on site. Thank you again for the great first experience!
