Cool state park in a great location. We camped one night in the off season. Park staff were friendly and helpful. We drove up to enjoy the view which is pretty spectacular, had dinner in Camden, then returned to the site for a warm campfire on a cool night. There are trails for hiking, decent cycling options, we saw a ton of wild turkeys. Only downside is that the bathroom/showers aren't quit... Cool state park in a great location. There are trails for hiking, decent cycling options, we saw a ton of wild turkeys. Only downside is that the bathroom/showers aren't quite at the level we're used to with the PA State Parks that we frequent. The campsites are spaced nicely so some are not right on top of each other, some are, but we had a lot of options this late in the season.

This was our basecamp for visiting Camden. We love the town and the park. Clean, safe, friendly. If you're camping, there's no additional fee to drive up Mt. Battie. We discovered that Edna St. Vincent Milay wrote a poem about the view!

Standing at the top and looking out over Camden Harbor and the islands scattered across Penobscot Bay honestly felt like looking at a postcard in real life. What I loved most was the variety. One minute you’re walking through quiet forest trails, and the next you’re on open ledges with sweeping coastal views. Even the drive through the park feels relaxing, with little pull-offs where you can just sit and soak in the scenery.

Camden Hills State Park is an absolute gem! The park offers stunning viewpoints overlooking Camden Harbor, Penobscot Bay, and the surrounding forests — the kind of scenery that makes every step worth it. Whether you hike up or drive to the top, the views are gorgeous throughout. Highly recommend visiting, especially on a clear day when you can see the islands spread out across the bay. 🌲⛰️✨ Camden Hills State Park is an absolute gem! The view from the top of Mount Battie is absolutely gorgeous. In the fall it must be amazing!! We’ve been there several times through the years. They’ve made some improvements including a lead up sidewalk from the parking area which is wheelchair accessible. It cost $12 and change to enter the parking area which for 2 out of state residents in a vehicle.

We drove to top of Mt Battie (I'm getting old and a knee replacement last year), great views and a cool tower and the cost was two bucks each (Sr discount) The only neg is the ranger at the pay house was way too grumpy, If I was king of Maine I wouldn't have him greeting tourists!
