About Cobscook Bay State Park Campground

Campground in Maine.

Nestled along the rugged Maine coast, Cobscook Bay State Park Campground offers RV travelers an authentic maritime experience in one of New England's most pristine natural settings. Located in Edmunds, this 888-acre park sits directly on the shores of Cobscook Bay, where visitors can witness some of the most dramatic tidal changes on the East Coast. The bay's name comes from the Passamaquoddy word meaning "boiling water," a reference to the powerful tidal currents that create a constantly changing landscape throughout the day.

The campground provides an excellent home base for exploring Maine's Down East region, an area that has captivated visitors for generations with its unspoiled beauty and genuine coastal charm. The park's location places you within easy reach of quintessential Maine attractions, from the iconic lighthouses that dot the coastline to charming fishing villages where you can purchase fresh lobster and local seafood. The nearby town of Eastport, America's easternmost city, is just a short drive away and offers delightful shops, galleries, and waterfront dining experiences.

For nature enthusiasts, Cobscook Bay is a haven for outdoor recreation. The park features scenic hiking trails that wind through coastal forests and along rocky shores, offering opportunities to spot bald eagles, seals, and diverse seabirds. Kayakers and boaters are drawn to the bay's protected waters, while tide pooling becomes an adventure as the bay's extreme tidal range exposes hidden marine ecosystems. Photographers find endless inspiration in the dramatic rocky coastline, particularly during sunrise and sunset when golden light bathes the landscape.

This destination appeals to RV travelers seeking solitude, natural beauty, and a genuine connection to Maine's maritime heritage. Whether you're watching the tide recede and reveal hidden coves, hiking forest trails, or simply enjoying the peaceful rhythm of coastal life, Cobscook Bay State Park Campground delivers an unforgettable Maine camping experience. The park's strong 4.6-star rating from over 200 guest reviews reflects its reputation as one of Maine's most cherished coastal destinations.

Loved that the campsites were spaced apart without sacrificing the views. The roads were smooth throughout and sites and roads clearly marked. Appreciated the serenity of the space and the beauty of the coast. Outhouses were some of the cleanest and well maintained we have used, and the shower houses are as well. Peaceful and beautiful. Can’t wait to go back!

Lucky enough to have had a perfect weather day this past week! Mondays are quiet and had the whole day use area to ourselves. Felt so relaxing and inspiring with all the great nature and views. They shelter cabin is cool in the day use area. Rangers were very nice as well. Clean facilities. For sure, I will be coming back for camping and a longer day.

Lots of sand and huge beach. Very populated, so I'd say for social butterflies. You can only stay for one night so that kind of socks. Also not handicap friendly so just make your own beach parking area. They can't do anything about it legally anyways.

Amazing bay side campsite- breathtaking views of the sunset and sunrise and the tidal area right in front of our campsite! We camped for two nights and it was so enjoyable both nights. Good camping facilities (men’s restroom shower was a little cold) and incredibly convenient parking.

Pretty state park with both campground and day use options. Property has clean bathrooms/showers, dump station with both black flush and fresh water supply. Dirt/gravel washboard roads, some low tree overhang at multiple locations, big rigs might have limited access. Some of the day use picnic sites were over grown with weeds and tall grass.
