About Lily Bay State Park

Located near Beaver Cove, Maine, Lily Bay State Park features 90 campsites in a scenic setting. This state park is a favorite among visitors seeking outdoor adventure and relaxation.

Nestled along the pristine shores of Moosehead Lake in Maine's beautiful Piscataquis County, Lily Bay State Park offers RV campers an exceptional escape into nature. This seasonal destination operates from May through October, providing the perfect window to experience Maine's legendary outdoor recreation during its most welcoming months. With 90 campsites spread across the park's forested landscape, you'll find a welcoming retreat that balances accessibility with genuine wilderness character.

The centerpiece of this destination is undoubtedly Moosehead Lake, Maine's largest lake and a legendary fishing destination. The park's boat ramp provides direct access to these storied waters, making it an ideal home base for anglers pursuing landlocked salmon, lake trout, and smallmouth bass. Whether you're an experienced fisher or simply looking to enjoy the serene beauty of the lake from the water, the boat launch facilities make exploration effortless. The lake stretches for miles with mountain views that define the Maine landscape, offering countless opportunities for boating, kayaking, and water-based adventure.

Beaver Cove's location places you at the gateway to some of Maine's most iconic natural attractions. The region is surrounded by dense forests, hiking trails, and stunning vistas that have attracted visitors for generations. Moosehead Lake earned its name for good reason, and wildlife enthusiasts often spot moose during early morning or evening hours, particularly during the spring and fall seasons. Beyond the lake itself, the surrounding area offers hiking opportunities that range from gentle nature walks to more challenging mountain trails.

The park itself is thoughtfully designed for RV travelers and tent campers alike. Amenities include full restroom facilities, hot showers, picnic tables at each site, and convenient fire rings for evening gatherings. A dump station on-site makes managing your RV systems straightforward and hassle-free. Pets are welcome throughout the park, so your furry camping companions can enjoy the experience alongside you. The combination of these practical amenities with the natural beauty creates a camping experience that doesn't require sacrificing comfort for scenery.

This destination particularly appeals to fishing enthusiasts, nature photographers, wildlife observers, and anyone seeking a genuine Maine camping experience. Families will appreciate the recreational opportunities and pet-friendly policies, while outdoor enthusiasts will relish the access to one of New England's most celebrated natural areas. The seasonal operation means you'll be visiting during optimal weather and natural conditions, avoiding the harsh Maine winters while capturing the region's most beautiful months.

My wife and I drove from Brunswick to Lily Bay State Park on the strength of many positive reviews. The public beach is small with a limited number of picnic tables and grills. On the day we visited (mid-July 2025), it was mild and clear, but so windy that a cookout was really out of the question. It was also abundantly clear that a lot of geese had spent time in and around the beach. It is unquestionably a beautiful location (although what's with the dog statue?), but best suited for people who have campers and other support equipment.

No matter what time of year our state Park is absolutely beautiful. I enjoy kayaking, hiking and cross country skiing here. The camping sites are spacious with views of Moosehead Lake. Everything is pristine and family friendly.

Loved it here! I was only planning one night but stayed 3, because it was so beautiful and perfect. Get a spot along the water if possible. The views are amazing. Wildlife everywhere and appear to be quite comfortable around humans. Outhouses are clean and located pretty close to all campsites. You’ll want to drive to the shower house though, it’s up the road a bit. Super clean and plenty of them... Loved it here! Nice level camp site. A little tight with tree branches getting in, but no real issues. Water and dump station available plus nice updated bath house. Nice beach area for swimming with no lifeguard present. Area with dock for getting boat in and out. Nice playground near campsites. Junior ranger program the kids enjoyed with coloring/activity Book and junior ranger patch.
