The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help and genuinely happy to see their guests enjoying their stay. The location is fantastic—quiet, relaxing, and perfectly situated for exploring Winchester and the surrounding area, yet peaceful enough to truly unwind at the campground. Everything was well maintained and had that cozy, comfortable campground feel you hope for when getting away. What really makes Candy Hill special, though, are the fabulous owners. You can tell they truly care about their campground and the people who stay there. Their hospitality and pride in the property shine through in every detail. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will absolutely be back. Highly recommend Candy Hill Campground to anyone looking for a friendly, well-located, and welcoming place to stay! 🌲🚐

We chose this campground because it’s just a mile or two off I-81 — super convenient for easy on and off the highway — and could accommodate our large 45’ fifth wheel. We were scheduled to arrive after office hours but kept in touch with the campground, and when we arrived, we were greeted by Haley in the office. She was super friendly and even asked if we needed firewood or propane. After check-in, an employee escorted us to our site on a golf cart — a thoughtful touch after a long travel day. We had one of their luxury sites, which featured a large, level concrete pad with a patio. It made setup quick and easy! The site also had a gas grill, table, and chairs — a great surprise that meant I didn’t even have to set up our Blackstone for dinner. Honestly, this campground deserves a higher rating than the 3 stars it currently has. Yes, being close to the highway means there’s a bit of road noise, but we expected that and it didn’t bother us at all. We didn’t use the Wi-Fi, pool, or other amenities, but everything we saw looked extremely well maintained. The camp store was top-notch — an entire wall of RV parts and accessories, plus coffee, tea, snacks, souvenirs, and a great selection of t-shirts and hoodies. Everything was spotless, well-stocked, and well organized. Not only is this review from a happy customer, but also from a fellow campground owner — and we can truly appreciate all the thoughtful touches, attention to detail, and pride of ownership that went into this place. Overall, a great stay — we’d absolutely stop again when passing through.

I don't even know where to begin so here goes. Let me preface this with the fact that I have been RVing for over 15 yrs and have probably been to 50+ campgrounds all over the US and Canada. Let me preface this with the fact that I have been RVing for over 15 yrs and have probably been to 50+ campgrounds all over the US and Canada. I would rate this campground probably 47 out of those 50 campgrounds. The only pluses I can come up with for the campground is the fact that is conveniently located a few miles off of interstate 81. It is right off a main 4 lane road that is very well traveled during the day, but not too much at night. The campground itself is exceptionally clean and most of the internal roads are paved and relatively wide. There is outside staff that will guide you to your campsite and help you back in if needed from 8am - 8pm. All of the outside staff was extremely friendly. They do have a very well stocked store with pretty much any accessory that you might need at a very premium price of 2 - 3 times what you could buy the exact same item anywhere else. The outside staff will pick up, fill and deliver back your propane bottles if you need them filled. WIFI was good at my site (f-7) and could be upgraded to premium for streaming and such for a reasonable price. I was there in November. They have a winter weather water policy that if the temperature gets below 36 degrees, they will shut off the water and they will shut off the water at your site and from 8pm - 8am no matter what the low temperature is supposed to be. I have camped in the Rockies in -20F temperatures and those campgrounds did not shut off the water, you you just required to use a heated hose. This policy is explained on their website and when you check in but it is ridiculous! All of the facilities have not been updated since the campground was opened in 1979 and it shows. Laundry facilities still have the original washers and dryers from 1979 with some of them being out of order. The capacity of all of the machines is extremely small but they still charge $2 for both the washer and dryer. The bathrooms also have not been updated so they still have the original bathroom fixtures and tile flooring, you can see pictures of the bathrooms in other reviews. Game room has many older video games that do not work. Unless you get a "premium" site, there will be no gravel or concrete in the area where you will be exiting you RV so you will be tracking in grass, leaves and mud if it rains. Most sites do not have space for parking a toad or even your truck if you have a travel trailer or fifth wheel. There is no parking of any sort anywhere on the campground other that in the grass. Even the staff parks in the grass. Once again this place was built in 1979 so most of the sites are very small. I had a 40' fifth wheel and the front was actually sticking out in the road. Now for the inside staff, I initially parked my truck next to my RV and was told that I needed to move it and park in the grass 30+ feet away. I went to the office to ask about this policy and the owner was extremely rude even though I asked politely about the policy.
