Mathew’s Arm Campground is a peaceful getaway surrounded by dense greenery — perfect if you’re looking to unwind and enjoy nature. The campsites are spacious, well-shaded, and ideal for a relaxing camping experience. Amenities & Supplies: There are nearby stores where you can find basic camping supplies and food. The campground itself doesn’t have hot water in the washrooms, so be prepared for that. Toilets are clean and functional, though simple. Food: You can bring your own food and cook at the campsite. There are no on-site restaurants, but local options are accessible if needed. Location: Very convenient if you’re coming from NoVa — short drive, making it easy for a weekend escape. Overall, it’s a great spot for a quiet, nature-filled camping trip. Just plan ahead for hot water and supplies, and you’ll have a peaceful outdoor experience.

Campground. $30. Takes both reservations and walk ins. This is good if your with a large group. It tends to be noisy and used by weekend vacationers. If you're a small group, it will disappoint in that it's loud and unruly at times. No showers available but 2 bathroom houses in each division. Fire pits and picnic tables offered. But driving north or South for 5 minutes will provide ample views- sunset and sunrise. Bear boxes provide in each site. Camp store 5 minutes north of campground that's open from 9-6 daily.

He'll be careful about the sites that you reserve, and be prepared or somewhat of an uneven paved parking space. However it is the Shenandoah mountains and some of the inconveniences need to be expected. I would try to get my space at Big Meadows if possible and they have larger pull throughs for RV rigs and trucks.

We had an amazing time at Mathews Arm Campground! The area is clean, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful nature. Our campsite was spacious and well-maintained. We even saw deer walking right by our tent such a cool experience! The location is perfect for hiking and relaxing. Definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a calm escape in nature.

Campground was clean. Ranger that greeted us was very helpful and kind. My only complaint was the dump station wasn’t draining correctly. I didn’t need to use the bath house so I can’t comment on that. I would stay there again.
