Nice and Peaceful area with a good amount of sites. Just sad the river is so low while being here. For off-roading it's a close one to the orv trail.

I really wish I could be the type to leave a negative review because the bugs were horrible (it's the Yoop-deal with it) or the less-than-favorable weather (it's the Yoop-deal with it). But I can't. The natural fresh spring water well is amazing. Vault toilets clean. Do yourself a favor and go!

We camped on site #12, right near an old boarded up stone garage.... possibly for old fishery equipment. Anyhow. There is an artisan well that is constantly flowing about 40 yd from this campsite. We had very few camping neighbors and fantastic weather. The blueberries were EVERYWHERE and we gathered plenty. Morning dips in the East Branch of the Fox River were refreshing. Another bonus is Seney National Wildlife Refuge is less than a half hour drive away, to the South. Grand Marais is a half hour drive to the North. The wife & I try new State Forest Campgrounds often, and this is one of our current favorites. ** On our way here we stopped and drove through both Black River State Forest Campground (just off of US-2 near Hog Island State Forest Campground) and Fox River State Forest Campground (just outside of Seney). Both looked promising for future trips but THIS one was the gem of the three we drove through!!

love this place. i’ve been camping all over the UP for work this summer, and this spot made me feel like i was camping for fun! so beautiful, and easy to walk a bit away from the campsite (i was in one of the spots by the well, so right in front of a red pine slope) and feel like you’re in the middle of the woods. would definitely come back!

Cool spot. The loop is a little tight for big campers. A few of the spots are pull through but we didn't realize it since we arrived at night. We did the hiking trail around the pond. It doesn't look overly well traveled but we enjoyed it.
