So I almost don’t dare sharing because I’m worried we won’t find a site. This is one hella gem of a campground. It’s 8 full miles ofc the main road but on weekends you are lucky to find a site. Many of the lake access ones are first come first serve. Otherwise one must reserve 4 days ahead of time. We were lucky. Got the last lakefront site. It was beyond epic. We were lucky. Got the last lakefront site. It was beyond epic. Great fire pit and grill plus picnic table. Stairs took us directly to the lake which was so clean and warm. Too our paddle board out for 4 hours one day and found an epic sand bar in the middle of the lake. This place is just a treasure!

This is the best national forest campground I've been to so far. The drive there was very scenic, we took the route along Medicine Lake and along nearby lakes closer to the campground, it's spectacular. This was the first campground I've been to where I wish I would of had a bicycle. Great place to read a book, swim or bicycle. We stayed at a lakeside campsite, it was so hard to decide which on... We stayed at a lakeside campsite, it was so hard to decide which one to stay at, there were several open when we were there, diverse topography with good access right to the lake. Awesome. I would of given it 4 stars due to a couple of factors which can be overlooked all things considered, generator use... fortunately the one being used near us was turned off during quiet hours. Do keep in mind this campground is a low amenity campground, which I am mostly in favor of, but "self debate" at times. Too many amenities could change a place where it's not exactly "forest" anymore. To me the lake has "Wisconsin water", exactly the type of lake and water I seek out. There isn't one single thing I would want different about it, right down to the exact swimming temperature I like, as such if I were a decision maker of forestry it would be a "no motorized boat lake". I actually had no idea that the area it's in had as much as it does regarding national forestry and outdoor appeal, I first went there years ago upon winning some sort of gift card package (a small one).

Camped here for two nights. Our site had steps down to the lake. 18.00 per night. Very clean, quiet and peaceful. Just what we wanted.
