Gorgeous campsites tucked away in a birch forest a few meters from the lakefront. The walk down to the lakefront is quick, and the lake is stunning in the early morning, easily one of my favorite campsites on isle royale. The hike down to the campground is rather long and steep, but well worth it.

Access to the campground from the Greenstone Ridge Trail is tough. Going down to the lake from the ridge at the end of the day was one of the most difficult stretches of trail on the island. Busy August conditions had us share a group site with 3 other parties but it was a great social atmosphere. Good water access. Watch for foxes around camp!

Didn’t go down to there, but got good words from other hikers about this campground. The the half mile spur from greenstone is really steep, remember they said it’s almost 500 ft.
