This is a nice park. The lake is pretty spacious and they offer kayaking, which is what me and my friends did. One thing that was concerning was the water quality. It stated that the water quality was not tested, yet there was a swimming area. In parts of the lake in which we kayaked, the water did seem very swampy. But like I said, it was quite a large lake. I would like to come back and check out the campground some day. Overall, this is a good recreational area that offers a lot.

Beautiful campground and well kept. Great price. The beach is nice with plenty of parking, decent pricing on food, a firepit anyone can use right on the beach. Cute shaded area. Down side is the path to get to the rail trail (for non-mountain bikes) is not easy to ride and about 2 miles from campsites; sites are close; hard to fund a large dump bin that's close; needs to be more bike friendly on... Definitely we will come back.

Great park with amazing scenic trails. The trail between marker 2 and 8 via trail marker 9 is a bit difficult due to terrain, but it's my favorite part. The only problem I had was that the campsites are not set up well to accommodate larger tents. Our tent is 9'x14', and there was barely room for it on the grass because the site had a cement pad right in the middle. We made it work though, with our tent butted up against a tree, and we looked around the park at other sites to pick out a bigger one for next time.

The horse side does not have electricity but has some great trails to ride. There's a bridge to cross and a stream if you want to cross. You can pick how far you want to go on the maps provided. There are some sites with corrals for the horses, or you can tie the horses. There is also a nice day staging area, an arena, and an obstacle course. Both sides are well maintained. The online site shows the site and has a very good description. The only thing we have found fault with this campground is that they do not have a great area for the kids to play. There's a couple of swings and a sandbox. It is in a nice area with some trees. The campground is very close to ionia, which makes it convenient to run to town to pick up things. Dogs are welcome, generators on the horse side, but shut off at night.

Nice rustic walk in campground. Most of the sites are fairly private and large. Enjoyed the adjacent hiking trails. Birders paradise! The resident pileated woodpeckers are a bit loud but so much fun to watch. Even heard an owl hooting at night. Bathrooms are typical vault toilets but kept clean and checked on daily. Large parking lot. No complaints, already planning a return trip!

Very quiet and beautiful. 5B is a walk in campground in a mostly Beech tree forest on a higher elevation than the group campground closer to the lake and the lake. Hike down a wooded path to the lake.

Fantastic rustic campground. The short hike in is well worth the seclusion, views, and birdsong. The sunrise over the lake is always a treat. The main hiking trail around the lake and the disc golf course are also nearby. We've camped here in both the fall and summer. Both are highly recommended as the forest is always stunning no matter the season.

The camping experience was awesome. Trails were very confusing though. There weren't well kept when we started hiking.

What a great rustic hike in campground. Highly recommended, the hike is not hard or long at all. You’re on a trail that even grandma can do. Great for the whole family
