Houghton is a charming college town that sits along the Keweenaw Peninsula, a remarkable geographic feature that juts dramatically into Lake Superior. The area is known for its natural beauty, rich mining heritage, and outdoor recreation opportunities that draw visitors year-round.

The Keweenaw Peninsula is a treasure trove for nature enthusiasts. The only thing that could have been better is if they were driver side back ins, but hey, the people were friendly as they waited for me. My understanding from talking with folks at the local rstaurants is that this park is in high demand. We were there for 5 days and it was a wonderful time.

Nice campground right on the canal. Each site has a full hook up and picnic table. Campground is conveniently located to nearby attractions. The wifi connection was great! There are no showers and it is a bit of a walk to the bathrooms at the nearby park.

No laundry. No shower house. Two days in site 20, two days in site 18 and two days in site 12. We had a mechanical issue and had to leave three days early. Zero refund for those three days. Lots of noisy side by side sand buggies passing through the park. Will stay at other park one mile away next time. Other park has full facilities and a cheaper weekly rate.

We really enjoyed our stay in Houghton, it was a great park. it is clean, has great views and easy access to everything. The park hosts were outstanding. The only down sides were that you are parked very close to each and with that density things like smoking, windchimes and lights from neghbors can be difficult. We were surprised that as a city park smoking was allowed. The "patios" are right next to each other and the people next to us smoked ciggarets and cigars. We were unable to use our patio/deck and we had to keep our windows closed, it was bad. They also left their porch light on and hung wind chimes that ended up just a few feet from our bedroom window. It would be nice if they had a few extra rules due to the tight parking.
