Alger is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Michigan weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Alger.
Don't miss local attractions near Alger. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

The owners and helpers are Super polite and helpful. The have put alot of time and effort into making sure there are tons of out door things to do. My preteen and teen girls loved it.

Old but full of charm! This small, family-friendly campground has about 50 shaded sites, most with 30-amp water/electric hookups and a few 50-amp and full hookups. Sites are level but tight for big rigs, and tent campers should avoid Site 6 in rainy weather. The bathhouse is old and musty but scrubbed regularly—nothing fancy, but you’ll get clean. Sites are level but tight for big rigs, and tent campers should avoid Site 6 in rainy weather. The bathhouse is old and musty but scrubbed regularly—nothing fancy, but you’ll get clean. The hosts, Karen and Carl, are wonderful and keep things safe and family-friendly (they strictly enforce the 5 MPH speed limit). The park offers lots of free activities: paddleboats, tubes, banana bikes, a game room, a small beach, a pond for catch-and-release fishing, and Saturday hayrides. Firewood delivery is $20 for a huge load. Greenwood Lake, the Rifle River canoe launch (4 miles east), and West Branch shopping/dining make great nearby side trips. Not a luxury resort, but a classic Michigan camping experience where you’ll feel right at home.

Our friends and family love this Campground. Carl and Karen are the owners and they are the best of people. We use the group camp every year. That's the rustic part of the Campground. It's deep in the woods through trails that are just wide enough to fit our small camper. There's no quiet time in that area because it's far enough away from the front that no matter how loud we are, we can't bother... Our friends and family love this Campground. There's a haunted forest, a small swimming pond, modern showers and bathroom, plenty of room to roam, and friendly faces every direction you look.
