Dowagiac is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
Michigan weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Dowagiac.
Don't miss local attractions near Dowagiac. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

The campground is nice and the people are friendly I had no complaints with the actual campground but I would not recommend tent camping here. The bar closed at 11 and drunk people were yelling in the parking lot, blasting music, and reving engines till probably midnight and this was mid week. I couldn't imagine what the bars like on the weekends. Not only that but semi trucks came to unload there trailers at 6am and someone was throwing glass bottles in a dumpster at the same time, just totally obnoxious. Probably a great place if you just want a place to sleep after you party but I would not bring my family here again. Also the camper area is further away so I'm assuming that's a little more quiet.

Wonderfully helpful couple. Just bought it a few years ago and are great folks. They are currently finishing bringing the bathroom up to date. Clean and quiet but close to breweries. Across from lake.We came to the area to pick cherries and met wonderful people. Will come back again. Thank you Kelly and Paul!!

I kind of get the impression that there are a lot of "seasonal" campers at the campground but hopefully in the years to come the campground can be opened up to more weekend campers. The grounds are beautiful, and if you are in the front you have a nice view of the lake (we actually walked across the road and watched the sunset over the lake the first night). The owner's are really nice and accommodating to their guests. They helped us out a lot when we got there! We went to this campground on a whim- I had a really rough week and needed to get away for the weekend. We both fell in love with the area and look forward to a return trip!

This is a very tiny campground and if you're looking for a good tenting experience, this is NOT the place to go. The tent area is a wide open circle which can fit around 8-10 tents and there are a few fire pits. I did not see any bathrooms, though I did walk the campground looking. I think the whole thing is like 4 acres large? There is nothing to entertain children, like a playground. The lake ac... I think the whole thing is like 4 acres large? There is nothing to entertain children, like a playground. The lake access is across the street; there is no beach, just grassy area where boats dock often to access The Strand Brewery & Grill, located next door to the campground (bar has live music until about 11pm on Friday and Saturdays that can be enjoyed/ not enjoyed within the campground). The lake is nice & the people on it are very friendly and open, but cannot say the same about folks in the campground. The website says dogs are welcome, but not if they are pitbulls. We brought our 2 pitties with us and were singled out for their barking. We kept our dogs leashed at all times, unlike other camper owners in the park. The owner came over at one point, with her unleashed dog, and asked if the dogs were friendly... Out of fear she would allow her dog to approach mine, it was said that they "may not get along with other dogs" and she yelled "get them out! get them out of here!" Never seen her again after that; she seemed to be a little distraught/stressed/constantly upset and on edge. Personally felt that we may have been discriminated against for being pitbull owners.

This is my favorite place to vacation! It’s location is perfect. Walk to the store, Driftwood is an icon location for ice cream and of course famous DocSide Dans is the best! More upscale The Strand brewery is awesome!
