Nice shaded campground with spacious sites. The pit toilet bathrooms were clean. They have a running water faucet near our campsite. Very small beach areas, but it was a nice place to watch the sunset. Some campsites are a little further to the water, but they have walkways to it.

This campground is located in a beautiful setting. There are new pit toilets that are the cleanest I have ever seen, and maintained daily. The campsites are large, private, and spaced out. There is a large grassy area by the beach that is mowed regularly. The water is sandy bottom, and very nice to swim in. The camp host was also very friendly! Our family had an amazing time during our stay!

Beautiful views right on the water on the maywood loop. Toilets were cleaned and restocked with TP daily. No showers on premises.

We just stayed here the 1-4 it was amazing. Super clean bathrooms, the camp sights are huge. It's was not a far drive from anything we wanted to go do. The beach was nice although the water wasn't the cleanest at the beach, there are many beaches close by.

This was a beautiful stop over. Paul and Heather were very welcoming and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean. The views are breathtaking, especially at sunset. No water fill or dump station. Remember, this is a rustic campground, so be sure to fill the water before you arrive.

Great little campground off the beaten path but right on the water! Sites are gravel and fairly level close to the water, there’s a separate area with full hook ups for big rigs too. I didn’t use the facilities during my stay (there are bathrooms and showers, as well as laundry. Wood and ice on site-no other store items so bring your groceries with you!) my only issue was low water pressure... Great little campground off the beaten path but right on the water! Wood and ice on site-no other store items so bring your groceries with you!) my only issue was low water pressure on my site-I worked around using my pump and fresh tank. Staff was friendly and always Available- riding around the park. My dogs and I enjoyed a week of bliss on the water while exploring Copper Harbor and the Keweenaw! Would absolutely return should I ever come back to the area!

It’s beautiful if you’re on the water I’m sure but if you have a big rig and want the hook ups you get about 2’x40’ sliver of grass. My picnic table is touching our neighbors sewer house so if that’s what you’re looking for then this is the right fit for you. UPDATE… It’s actually a beautiful campground with great sites. Just so happens that I got 1 of the few crap ones. Other then that it has bee... The park is older but that added a nostalgic feel for our stay. We had a nice spot that’s was fairly close to the lake. The cabins and rest rooms look rustic but were nice inside. The short walk to Superior provides stunningly beautiful views on rocky cliffs. The beach is covered with rock and agate. Night hunting for yooperlites turned up a handful of small ones.

Lord of the Flies (0 stars) Was given the keys to cabin #2 at check in (was told it had just been cleaned). Upon opening the door we were greeted by 100+ flies swarming over the entire cabin. Dead ones could be seen on the window sills. The cabin also had a distinctly strong foul odor that hit you like a wall…mold? Although the area around the cabin was nice (fire pit and benches to watch the beautiful view of Lake Superior), the cabin was totally unacceptable and disgusting. Due to no vacancies in the area, we were forced to sleep outside in our tent. False advertising and resort level pricing! Shame on the owners!

The previous 2 stays were great, and we love the area. However a few weeks ago, Labor Day weekend 2025, the camp host "Sheryl" accidentally rammed her golf cart into our guest's parked car in broad daylight, causing severe ($3000) damage to his car. Then she hit another truck right afterwards. She was barely remorseful. Then she became angry that we called the police to assess the situation for repair. Since this incident, the owner has refused to offer this young man, a student at Michigan Tech, any assistance in his repairs. Even worse! The owner used a variety of cuss words to belittle this young man for even asking! Note to business owners, (which we are too) -- If your employee causes damage to your guests' personal property, a business owner should bend over backwards to make things right. At a bare minimum, Sunset Bay should cover his deductible for his body shop repairs. Insult to injury, this will count as an insurance claim and his rates will likely increase. Yes, No Fault insurance protects you. But honest Google Reviews can cost you dearly in the long run also. Best practice, use the Golden Rule to avoid the wrath of Karma.
