Very nice, quiet, well maintained campground on the south edge of Alpena MI. We made reservations well in advance for a stay over Labor Day weekend. We arrived after check-in 11:00 and called the number on the check-in shack. The owner, Debbie, answered and was away from the campground but she directed us to our site and said we could catch up with the paperwork when she got back. They have limited 50 amp sites which we requested and it is quite wooded so our roof mounted satellite dish searched, but stowed after failing to see satellites. AT&T reception is good so we will stream here. There is electric and water, but no sewer at the sites. They have a dual dump station and I believe I saw a honey wagon driving around. Many of the sites are occupied with seasonal campers and the campground is expected to fill up over the holiday weekend. When Debbie arrived she asked if we were active or retired military, law enforcement, fire fighter, etc and I qualified so we received a healthy discount, which we really appreciated. Four out of five due to lack of full hook-up, but the discount made up for that. I would definitely camp here again. Nice place!

Very quiet and relaxing campground. Staff and management are extremely friendly and willing to accommodate. All sites have water and electricity, including tent sites. Bathroom and showers are very clean. Campground even offers some hiking trails for quick nature walks. Will be back again!

Owner was very nice and came over and introduced himself and invited us back. We loved it. *Edit (7 years later): While Kregg, the owner, is still a great guy, friendly and hospitable, and the campground is quiet, unfortunately the cleanliness of it has really gone downhill. We camp every year since posting the original review 7 years ago. It used to be that some of the seasonal residents would mop the showers and clean the bathrooms. I haven't noticed that in several years. The showers have mildew, mold, cobwebs and dirt. There was an ashed cigarette in the soap dish, dirty underwear and socks on the floor in the bathroom walkway. In 6 days time, the counters in the bathroom were not wiped, nor were the toilets cleaned. Would love to come back, but only if it gets cleaned up a bit.
