From the very first day, he felt welcomed and quickly connected with the other campers! the canoe trip to Canada was an amazing adventure for him! he came home so proud of himself for the adventure and teamwork it took to complete it. He also absolutely loved all the classes, from learning new skills to trying things he never done before such as shooting and woodworking. I can tell he gained confidence and up to this day still he hasn’t stopped telling stories about the fun he had, the laughs he shared, and the adventures that filled every day. It’s so clear that the camp staff truly care about the kids and create such a supportive and exciting environment for them. JR is an absolute gem at camp Koochiching! His kindness, patience, and genuine care really stood out, and it made such a difference in our overall 1st time camp experience. JR has a natural way of connecting with both kids and parents, making everything feel easy and enjoyable. Our family is so grateful for all he did for us, and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to guide us. Tommy can’t wait to go back to camp next summer and as a parent, I couldn’t be happier seeing how much he grew and how many wonderful memories he made. Thank you, Camp Koochiching, for giving him such a special and unforgettable experience! The Mariasov family

Reducing a real culture to outdated, craft-store-style props and roleplay is not education. it’s disrespectful and harmful. As a nonprofit that claims to promote education, they should know better. Cultural sensitivity, historical accuracy, and respect should be the bare minimum. Instead of continuing harmful stereotypes. Unacceptable and should be shut down. Their "land acknowledgement" statement on the website is nothing short of a slap in the face of those they harm.
