While the main falls are definitely worth seeing, don’t miss out on the hike down to the lake There’s a trail that leads down to Lake Superior, and you can cross a small bridge to hike up the right side and discover the smaller upper falls. The like to the lake and then the loop is about three miles and relatively easy to follow. The walk down to the lake is peaceful and beautiful, even in late fall. The lake was calm when we visited, making it a perfect spot to take a break or snap some photos. There’s a beach, picnic tables, and fire pits, so it’s a great place for a lunch break. Just make sure to hike past the little hut and down by the beach to and flat rocks. After hiking back up from the lake cross the small wooden bridge, the trail takes you up the right side, where you’ll climb a few steps. It may sound challenging, but it actually adds another view above the falls. Once you reach the upper falls under the big bridge and across the highway, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. They’re smaller than the main waterfall, but they’re definitely worth seeing. The entire loop offers a different perspective of the area, and we found it even more enjoyable than just standing at the main falls. Don’t forget to stop by the visitor center. It’s a great place to gather information, use the clean restrooms, and learn more about the park before you start your hike. Overall, this is an easy and family-friendly adventure with much more to see than just the main waterfall. We’re glad we explored the entire loop!

The park is beautiful and there are so many trails to explore. The main building has a gift shop, bathrooms with flush toilets, water fountains, and lots of information about the park. The park was busy when I visited in July but there was tons of parking. Remember to leave no trace and leave the park looking better than when you arrive!

Been coming here my entire life, and it’s always consistently amazing. But otherwise the trails are great, and I’m sad I didn’t take more pictures on the falls trail. Came here at the time of this posting in the beginning of the fall where the temps were perfect and there were little to no bugs. The sites are also clean and roomy, with what seems to be a complementary big rock in all the sites I’ve been to 🤣. For me this is by far the best state park I’ve ever been to.

This is a beautiful natural wonder! It’s unique in that it’s very accessible. You can actually walk out onto the rocks and put your feet in the water, and really explore. It would be nice if there was a little more signage along the pathways - the map we were given is not very functional, and they’re such a network of paths that it can be become confusing. We were there on a weekend in early fall, and the place was overrun with leaf peepers! I don’t know if it’s always that busy, to me that was the only drawback. You could hardly get a photo of the falls without people in it. During peak season, mid week might be less busy. They have a lovely visitor center and gift shop, and nice restrooms.
